@Bobyl I agree completely.

@Bobyl That is so true what you said… They want us to check WMR as early as 24 hours after we submit it, but forces us to wait 21 days before we can even ask questions… If they were a little more transparent with an explanation on the WMR site, they wouldn’t have to worry about all these calls and we wouldn’t have to worry about what’s going on with our refund.. When it comes to money, people are going to stay on top of that.. If you have Tax Topic 152 with reference 9001 on your screen when you check WMR, obviously people want to know what the heck is going on.. How hard is it to have a message with this that says call this number you need to verify your identity, or your bank information is incorrect and we will be mailing you out a paper check” if that is what your problem is.. Technology is super advanced, and it is not hard to program a computer to say this on your WMR if this is, in fact, why they are stopping your return from further processing.. I’m shocked the bosses and supervisors and people higher up didn’t think of this… Get a little more detailed on the actual status and it solves all our problems.. We wouldn’t worry and they wouldn’t get freaked out about people calling a million times a day…

Bump!!
I give up. This is seriously too stressful. I’m not checking WMR anymore and once I get my deposit my bank with definitely notify me.
They’re refund processing sequence is absurd. And clearly the cycle dates are wrong because tomorrow is the 5th and most of us filed before the 29th and haven’t received anything.
It’s all bs if you ask me!

Spoke with the IRS this morning about 9am pacific time. She answered all my questions very nice woman. Says WMR is still down. It is not updating all information and giving error messages.
Apologized for all the delays says not to expect my refund until the full 21 days and maybe even a week after.
They are still processing returns that have already been received but no new returns. Says the system updates every day including weekends.

“This User expects the IRS to delay 9 out of 10 refunds for this year” I bet only only 3 of 10 are processed accordingly to their predictions.

Okay, I understand that the Systems were shut down yesterday… I get it.. However, WTF does that have to do with the ones they already got??! People keep saying early filers but filing that Saturday after tax season is already open…. Isn’t early…. Shouldn’t they at least, get to those first?? not someone that filed on the 28th and they already have their money… This year makes no sense…
Maybe they will update throughout out the day… or maybe they will allow extra posting to get caught up… Most of us will be at our 21 day mark as of next week….

To those that believe the problems are budget related, i really have to disagree. Consider this, most of the work in the IRS is automated unless there is a problem which requires a review. Right now you can call the IRS and will get a passed out script of you have to wait 21 days before we can do anything.. So what do these people do other then pass on a message an answering machine could pass on.
Truthful explanation has nothing to do with staffing, id say it has to do with ongoing issues related to the problems the IRS has suffered for years involving poor management and terrible customer service. Think about it, they refer you to a system (WMR) that is not accurate and plagued with problems.

Turbo Tax
WMR @ 1 bar
Tax Topic 152Last year I filed on the same date 1/27/15(WEDNESDAY) and got my DD 1/29/15 (FRIDAY) – fastest refund ever – with no movement on WMR. Just keeping that in the back of my mind.. No movement last year, why would this year be any different….

At this point I’m annoyed and confused!! Why not just process in order of receipt. For ppl to be getting funds who filed well after me and the IRS to say there’s no real reason it poposterous.
Clearly I won’t be getting my funds by the 5th or the 8th for that matter. So I guess I’ll be hitting my 21 day mark for sure!! That’s crazy!!

I agree 100% the “failure” isn’t a system failure, it’s an “we cut budget and have less employees so we cannot process properly, failure”
I remember last year republic got my deposit at an odd hour, like 11AM-1PM EST. so I too will be watching like a hawk today.
-
February 4, 2016 at 8:47 am #4128294
MamaB, I hope you’re right. Last year, SBBT got my deposit a day earlier, but it didn’t show until later in the day. I’ll be stalking them like mad today. Transcripts seem to only be half working, if at all this morning. If I try with my Social, I get the “your request cannot be processed” message. If I try my husband’s, I get that the transcript is not available. Pizza tracker hasn’t changed one iota.
I really think this “system failure” was their way of catching up. Some people got a 2/8 DDD today, which I believe is the first Monday DDD this season.
HoustonsOwnDrew, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who woke up well before the sun came up to check. I can’t wait for this roller coaster to be over.

WASHINGTON – The IRS stopped accepting electronically filed tax returns Wednesday because of problems with some of its computer systems. The outage could affect refunds, but the agency said it doesn’t anticipate “major disruptions.”A “hardware failure” forced the shutdown of several tax processing systems, including the e-file system, the IRS said in a statement. The IRS.gov website remains available, but “where’s my refund” and other services are not working.
Some systems will be out of service at least until Thursday, the agency said. “The IRS is currently in the process of making repairs and working to restore normal operations as soon as possible,” the IRS said.
Taxpayers can continue to send electronic returns to companies that serve as middlemen between taxpayers and the IRS. But those companies have to hold on to the tax returns until the IRS systems are up and running again, the IRS said.
While the IRS said it is still assessing the scope of the outage, it expects 90 percent of taxpayers will receive refunds within three weeks.
People who have already filed returns don’t need to do anything more, the IRS said.

At this point how are we to know what to believe, they report a system failure yesterday and state that wmr is down. If you call the only thing you would be told is the standard 21 day scripted bull.

No DDD for me still at one bar, I really don’t think WMR is functioning properly, I actually expect to see a deposit into republic this evening or tomorrow, then to my bank following day.
I’m not going to get my hopes up, but going by previous years, that’s my assumption.

I am usually a calm fact finding person. I filed on the 19th but had to wait until the 20th because of a school form not being ready. I have lost my status bars on wmr since last Tuesday or Wednesday. I called the first day it happened and got the 21 day speech, I called twice yesterday and the system as we all know was down. I am not going to compare this year to any other year because this year is totally different. I am calling today and getting some type of answers. I personally think the system went down because 21 days for a lot of people is in less than 5 days, This buys them time.

Filed on 1/29… still at one bar. This system drives me NUTS. I don’t know what is holding mine up, but they do this to me every year. Been audited or “reviewed” every year for the last 4, and my tax returns are always correct.
