A brief summation of events thus far. On January 27, 2020 I submitted the e-filing of my federal return through TurboTax. The following day, the 28th, it was accepted by the IRS. After 23 days of checking my refund status on the IRS.gov website without update, I called the IRS to see if there was an issue with my return. I spoke to two reps, whom informed me the IRS was planning to send me a letter requesting two things from me: a completed Form 8962 and a copy of my 1095-A. I was given a physical address to mail these documents to, and also provided a fax number to expedite the process. Two days later I faxed the documents, along with a brief description of my issue as suggested by one of the IRS reps, to the fax provided to me.
Then for almost six weeks radio silence again. Then a week ago I receive a 2645C letter from the IRS saying they received my documents and need another 60 days to review things. To cap things off, on April 15th they attempted to deposit my stimulus check into my old savings account that is no longer active. They were provided the updated, correct banking info back in January on my 1040 submitted to them through TurboTax. So I don’t have access to that money, either. I work in the medical field, and as essential personnel, continue to work daily. Yet, I can’t get a live person on the phone at the IRS. Any suggestions how I go about handling this? It’s clear to me the IRS is holding my money hostage.
