Just did my daughters taxes and it asks did you receive a 3rd stimulus payment in 2021. She said no. I am hoping she’s correct because the recovery act stimmy is crediting her 1400 in her refund amount. She has 0 record of getting it . She filed her 2020 return feb 19 2021 and received the 1800 which was the 2 first stimmies combined(600,1200). If she’s wrong, what will the irs likely do? Reject it? Just fix it on their end?

Issue a refund and you’ll owe the IRS
I don’t think they’ll fix it until after
            But I could be wrong

Yeah I was thinking that may happen as well. Others have had this happen like this. They just accepted the return this morning btw. She has 1 bar as well…with the amount.

Thanks guys. Just filed hers this morning at 7am. Hasn’t been accepted just yet. I kinda expect it will here soon. Maybe later today. Used EZTAXRETURN.COM and since hers was a simple return, it was free. I wasn’t thrilled with using TT the last 3 years. Expensive and r customer service. My Daughter and I use EZ now. She still says she never received the $1400 bucks. We will see if she’s right I guess. lol

They’ll see that she did receive it and will correct it. It will be accepted as returns only get rejected when personal info (SSN, prior year AGI, etc) is incorrect or a return has already been filed under that SSN for the current tax year. I would expect a delay of 1-2 weeks at minimum.

another quick update this morning, the irs just accepted the return just like you predicted they would. Now we wait.

UPDATE. She now says after pulling up her past financial records from 2021, SHE DID GET IT! Guys, what do you think the IRS will do? Its already been filed. Will they accept it as is THEN fix it? Delays? Thanks.

We claimed stimulus on our 2020 tax because we had a baby in 2020.
Anyways. The IRS decided we weren’t due the stimulus (even tho we were because we didn’t receive hers.) Our return was put under human review and they took the stimulus off. They adjusted it on their end and they issued a refund for the rest.
We never did get her stimulus but we didn’t fight all that hard.
