General question about refunds being offset this year.
I received a letter in the mail a month or so ago about owing taxes from 2017. When I check my account online, it shows that I owe $0.00 – nothing.
I know I do owe those taxes but I was wondering if the offset program was turned off because of our current pandemic/economic situation. Basically wondering if I’m going to get my refund or not.

Depends, do you owe the IRS or state back??? My husband and I owed the state a few years back, they didn’t touch that current year refund but they did the next year. Last year we owed the IRS 7,000 because we didn’t add an IRA, my husband lost his job and he took all his money out of the 401k, we didn’t report so when we filed last year in July they took every penny and didn’t even allow to let Turbo take their fees. Just depends on which one you owe. I hope this helps a little
