Tax Topic 152 vs PATH Act

Is the PATH Act and the Tax Topic 152 two different things???

Filed 1/29 w/ EITC & CTC, no ACTC
Accepted 1/29
One bar and topic 152 since 1/29

All along I’m thinking the tax topic 152 is the path Act but judging from other posts it is not. Help please?

It’s not the same thing. Tax Topic 152 is standard processing message that they have received return and it is processing. PATH is if you have the additional credits and will have to wait until the 15th to receive refund.

Okay, I’ve read that if you were affected by it last year then you won’t be this year? Who knows!

by the way my path act message includes Tax Topic 152 because I filed to get my refund direct deposit

152 concerns how you are getting your refund ie Direct Deposit

Path Act has to do if you specifically filed for and qualified for Eic or Actc credits If approved for either you will get the Path Act Message

People that get the pathact message are folks that filed early and their refund will be delayed past the typical 21 days due to pathact. Tax topic 152 is just a standard refund message that relates to returns filed..if u were accepted let’s say today, you would not get pathact because it doesn’t pertain you because you don’t fall outside the 21 days before mid Feb release

You will know when you have the tax act message as it explains what it is, with tax topic 152 under it and most likely the bars will disappear.
