My tax refund was taken by the department of education this year. Should I be concerned that I won’t see a direct deposit? My return included my bank information…the money was just sent somewhere else. Someone please help ease my mind!

@Whocares, if your routing & acct. #s are on your return, the IRS will use that. That’s my understanding, anyway.

To ease your mind, you can visit https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments and complete it when the app becomes available next week.

That makes sense. Unfortunately I missed the cut off for that by a few days and don’t qualify for the returned payment. I’m just hoping that I can still expect the stimulus to be deposited rather than mailed

@melissa They’re refunding your original return or they’re issuing a paper check for your stimulus payment in 30-45 days?

Call them & confirm your address. Mine did the same & they are refunding it with a paper check 30-45 days

I filed in January and got confirmation that my return was sent to the department of education on 2/26.
