Okay, so I’ve been waiting on these dang transcripts to update–and now I’ve got a 570 code! What does this mean?! Do I need to verify? Is this just an effect of the EIC credit? Am I getting a DDD soon? Can someone shed some light on this?

If you have 570 you’re getting FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED.
That’s what it means.

I’m on hold with IRS, being told our refund is being held “for accuracy.” It’s the same stuff every year, why would it be held for accuracy now? Should I get an advocate?

570 Code can mean a variety of things but however 570 do mean it’s a hold…The question is what type of hold and why.

I have a 570 code on my transcript. I have no idea what it means and it’s the first time that this has ever happened to me. I generally get my refund within a couple weeks of filling.

Welp,
Bars are gone and I’m on Tax Code 570. Guess I’m fucked once again this year.
If this happens to you, call and get a Tax Advocate. It’s what I had to do last year and even then it took til the first week of April to get my refund. If you don’t get an Advocate, you’ll be waiting 10 times longer.
Fuck the IRS and their bullshit.

How in the world do you online verify?

Ben–
Let’s hope your first theory is the one! Hahaha! I’d rather think the IRS was looney tunes instead of thinking that I’m in for a WORLD of headaches. Lmao

I got it too and now I’m going round in round in my head what it could be. This is my first year as a PATH so waiting has been bad enough and now this. I also called Offset and I have none so thats good. When I did my taxes HR block made me input both my and my husbands drivers license images and information so I don’t know why I would be flagged for ID verify if I already did. I really CANT figure out what the issue would be so my hope is they are “holding” until Processing date and thats why the 570 is on there.

I revise my previous statement. I checked my transcript from last year and I had the same code. I had to end up getting an Advocate last year and didn’t get my refund until the first week of April. It was a NIGHTMARE. I’m hoping because I got caught up in that last year that it wouldn’t happen again, but it looks like here we are.
If I don’t get a DDD by Monday, I’m calling for an Advocate on Tuesday as it will be the 22nd day since I filed (I filed on 1/31).
If the 570 doesn’t fall off your transcript by your 22nd day, CALL AN ADVOCATE IMMEDIATELY, or it can take even longer than it took mine.

I have 570, tried to id verify online, it said does not apply to me. So I don’t think for me it is I’d verify.

I have the exact same thing. I have 2 theories one is good the other is bad.
Good theory- IRS is crazy and we cant predict what they are doing and there is no rhyme or reason behind these codes they sometimes put on our accounts. I have read code 570 can mean many things and some of those many things don’t have anything to do with a problem with the return. Sometimes it is a hold just saying they will hold it until it is released according to your processing date, this is what I have gotten from some other sites and other people. So I am HOPING this is the case.
Bad Theory – We are under review and it will take an additional 45 days to possibly get our refund.
These are my two theories based on what I have gathered around these forms, other forms, and websites.

People are saying it’s an ID verify–but I don’t think that applies to me. I’m still at one bar and topic 152, with my refund amount still showing on WMR. I don’t have any messages to contact the IRS, I have no offsets, and I do have the EIC credit. Yet, I have a 570 code with no 971 code (so they aren’t sending any letters, according to the transcript). Why am I on hold, if there’s NOTHING else on my account that suggests I need to contact them?
I’d understand if everybody with the credits were on hold, but plenty of people are posting their transcripts with no 570 code. Why am I on hold?!

Ugh I still have code 570.

I called and checked the offset hotline–I have no offsets pending. I’m not sure why I’m being put on hold, when I’m hearing people are getting their DDDs.

Britt,
I also have a 570. I know I have an offset that’s going to pull $300 from my refund so I assume that’s what the 570 is regarding.
Anyone else have any info?
