I was wondering if it’s even worth the time to contact a tax advocate. I’ve called the IRS several times and have been told something different every time. “There was an error”, “we don’t know what it is”, “you won’t get a letter”, “When we’re done you’ll get your money 6-8 from the date we figure it out”.

      I’m sitting at 25 days now..BUSINESS DAYS.

Has anyone had a favorable outcome with the Tax Advocates ?

I got a TA and I have DDD for next 4/15. But it takes since March 5 that I received 4664c letter, I called TA hotline, then sent papers w2 etc, she called me back twice. Last call was to notify that my refund was released and that I will have my money on two weeks. If was not by TA my refund was expected to be completed not before May 3 so I think it works.

I filed jan 20.. got a notice saying under review til april 9th contacted TAS beginning of march said they needed wage verification had employer fax over last stub same day. Its now been a month and past april 9th nothing seems to have changed. Transcript said processed on feb 16 … irs is just sitting on my refund like its money in the bank.. now that TAS is involved irs wont talk with you only your advocate.. so for me it hasnt done me any justice! April 20 will be 4 long months of waiting all because they wanted to vfy wages i been w same employer for yrs! This is insane!!!!

I went through tax payer advocate. Hardship, disconnect notices. When I called, IRS they told me 60 days to receive refund. Taxpayer advocate had me running around to sent cutoff notices, last employer had to send info of time worked and what I had contributed in taxes. Finally getting my refund 69 days later. At first you feel like they can help you get it sooner and actually be of some relief. In the long run, I think I waited an EXTRA week because they even got involved. No help whatsoever. Refund still took more than 2 months.

I was assigned a tax advocate and submitted a copy of my last paystub from 2014 and proof that i have some bills that need to be paid now. Sill waiting to hear something…i even left a message to ensure she received the materials but there was response.

Anybody had any luck with the TAs and if so, how long did it take for you to see something happen with your return/refund

I requested a tax advocate. Like you my 21 days passed, called each time and was told something different. I had a tax advocate case worker assigned to me Tuesday. They have 7 days to contact you, if I don’t here from anyone within those 7 days I can call on the 8th day and get the # of the person who is assigned to me then contact them myself… So I’m thinking, no a tax advocate will not speed up the process!
