This is kinda sorta off topic but have you ever thought about just “running away”(hate saying it like that it sounds childish) with your Refund? Just skipping town and never coming back? Here’s my thing. I hate my life. I hate my job(though I love what I do) and I hate where I live. Before you tell me I just can’t runaway from my problems I’ve been fighting them head on for 10 YEARS! I just can’t take it anymore, so I’m thinking once my Refund hits I’m just gonna get in my car and drive. Go get some new tires right before,turn my phone off and just go! I just can’t take it anymore and I don’t care what happens to me or where I end up. I just want to start my life over.

@RG
You are more than welcome. It seems like every time you need something the most is when it take forever to come. But I truly wish you and your family the best and good luck. -

@leah thank you for your kind words and congrats on your new life.
@sean thank you, it’s hard to stay here after that but we’re waiting along with everyone on the ol’ tax $. One of these days it will come. We’ve never needed it like we do this year and it’s taken longer than ever.
@jennifer yes you’re right. -

@Jennifer
Exactly start small then work your way up. Don’t try to live above your means just to impress people knowing you cant afford it and don’t try to buy stuff that is unnecessary because you think it look good or the next person has it. When you try to impress the next person and live above your means you are asking to fail. It takes time to build your self up and establish something you just got to have a lot of patience it will fall right in your lap and don’t rush when you rush everything goes bad. -

$7k or $8k is actually enough for a new start… You want a new start, gotta START somewhere with something. Meaning you dont have to move to another state in a 3bd 2 story house..begin small then build up. I wish yall luck.

@ Leah yes sometimes you just have to do it with no plan. If your gut feeling telling you to go then you go. A lot of people don’t just get up and leave because they are used to the environment they are in and they are scared they are going to fail. I look at it like if you are failing or you cant get ahead where you at, sometimes you have to take that sacrifice and get up and leave I mean you don’t really have nothing to lose why not. If you fail when you move you can always go back to what you know. You don’t know if you don’t try it.

@RG I’m sorry you and your family had to go through that. A similar incident happened to me but by the grace of god my child wasn’t with me and he is usually with me all the time. I would get out of there asap anytime someone comes to your place to rob you especially while your child is there they don’t care about life and it no telling what they will do to get a few dollars people are so cruel now days they would rather rob and put other peoples lives in danger and just to get a few bucks instead of getting out and work like us its just sad and pitiful.

I did it with $700 I left Seattle and got in my car with everything I owned and drove to Denver. I thought I had a friend to stay with but it turned out they were a junkie. I ended up staying in a shelter till I found work and could afford a studio apart. 9 years later I work the government (the decent part) I have a great man and 3 beautiful babies. Wouldn’t change a thing. If you feel you need to get out do it, if your not hurting anyone (kids) then stArt anew my friend!!

Thats a great story. I wish I had the guts to do it. West Virginia is horrible, then on top of that last Monday 2 younger males came in on us with guns looking for money. Held gun to husbands head and one held one to my stomach. It was a terrifying ordeal that my 10 year old watched. Were definitely moving somewhere. -

I see a few people saying 8 and 7 grand wont go far. It depends on where you go and how you budget. 8 and 7 grand is more than enough to get a new start on life anywhere. True story I got up one day and just moved to Minnesota almost 9 years ago for no reason June 6 will be 9 years I knew nothing about Minnesota. I literally came up here with $65 in my pocket and three bags of clothes and two of the bags was my child’s. I didn’t know where my next dollar was coming from. I worked for temp agencies for months. I stayed in the shelter for a few months to multiple small 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments , to a rundown 3 bedroom house, to a town house and now I literally have fairly newly built 3000sqft 4 level house on 1.5 acres that’s mine and currently the Executive Chef for the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB Players, Coaches, Owners, VIP’S and higher ups. Anything is possible as long as you motivate your self and have positive energy around you can do it. I am a 29 year old father and my kid motivated me and I never looked back and didn’t have any regrets when I moved here. To be honest this was the best move I ever made in my life and I’m glad I did it. I plan on staying here until my kid wants to move.

I did it. 16 years ago. Will never regret it.
You only live once.
Make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.
Your problems will find you but sometimes a new prospective….and a new location make them tolerable.
Good Luck!

Go for it! This may be your last good refund for a while. I agreed with Mikele. Don’t allow yourself to be talked out of it. Also you may want to purchase a small travel trailer. Imo

Many times I have thought that same thing. When two of my children graduated June 2016, I packed up and left with my last remaining child still at home. I didn’t have a plan, just a Uhaul and vehicle. It is awesome! I left the place of hell I was living, got a great job and much better schools. I went two states away from chaos and drama.
It was worth it. If you want to go, go before you talk yourself out of it. And leave yourself no reason to go back! It all works out as it should
If I can do it, anyone can!
Good luck! -

Um, I have not personally had this thought, but why the heck not? Reinvent your life. Make it all that you want it to be! Good luck and best wishes to you! :)
