I received a message stating I need to take further action to get my refund status. I was given a number and extension 312 and a reference number but no tt or anything. We are expecting an offset, so I filed an injured spouse form. Any insight?

Called the IRS this morning, before I seen these. Lol she said nothing is wrong or needs to be done, but she does see that I have eic and blah blah blah… After that she mentioned that I have an offset. I filed injured spouse, so that will take care of the offset, but she said it could take 11 weeks not from the day I filed, but from the 15th, but also told me it could be processed around March 3… Not very helpful, but at least I know there’s nothing wrong, I just have to wait.

P.S. I have been at the same address for 14 years, same direct deposit bank account for 22 years, same number of kids for the last 4 years, no divorces or marriage, I e-filed the same way I have been for at least the last 6 years (HR BLOCK). Absolutely nothing changed. I got pulled for id verify anyway, np explanation given.

Meanwhile, I had a friend who retired and moved to a different state, changed banks, and they were not pulled for id verify. No idea what triggered it except, that they pull early filers more than late filers, fraudsters file early to beat the real person filing. I would think bank account changes, address changes, etc. would be a big trigger to verify, but no one really knows how the IRS operates.

Got that message last year. Called IRS and they said I was pulled for ID verify. They then said that I could not id verify until I got a letter in the mail with a code, and that the phone operator will que the system to send the letter. Once I got the code, I could call and verify. I received the letter 10 days after I called. ID verifying took 10 minutes on the phone, then 2 weeks until my refund. So, the take action message meant in my case, ID verify and added 3 weeks to my refund time.

@PhickDiva I got the same message on 2/3. Waited to see if I’d get another update on 2/10 but nothing, just the same message.

I got the delayed processing message as well and that IF I had any questions to call and reference code 1541, but NOT that I NEEDED to do anything per say. There was no error code listed, nor anything stating that they needed additional info or that a letter was being sent out. I claimed EITC, no different than I have for the last several years. I didn’t move, change jobs, or get married. So no changes that would affect my return or require ID verification.

When I googled reference code 1541, several sites said it’s just a generic internal code the IRS uses that literally means delay due to them being behind. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong with the return itself.

Nobody? I have never seen this. It says processing of my refund has been delayed and I can call them with any questions.
