I currently owe a student loan. Its showing up when I call the offset hotline. I’m at a financial hardship. Is there anyway around having my refund taken? Any info helps. Thanks

I had several years of my taxes being taken for student loans and then a company called me and set up a payment plan. I think that it was part of a forgiveness program of some sort. I only had to pay like $15 a month for 9 months and then they showed that it was in good standing, so I have been able to receive my taxes for the past few years. I think that it was through this company, but I am not 100% sure. http://conserve-arm.com/contact-us As for your taxes this year, I think that they are gone :(

I didn’t file. Any suggestions on how to go about consolidating my loans

I was in the same situation years ago. Hopefully you have not already filed because if your student loans are showing up on the offset line, then they will take your refund. You will need to have your student loans, more than likely, consolidated. That’s exactly what I did before I filed one year and I was able to get my full refund.

You can contact great lakes..but you might want to do it pretty fast. If you’ve already filed, then it’s likely too late.
If you don’t contact them, then you’re gonna wind up being offset with your refund..no other way to stop it.
