It’s a little unnerving. Those SBTPG accounts are only temporary and then they close the account once they Disperse you refund to whichever bank account you had them deposit to. So as of now, the IRS will try to deposit to that SBtPG routing number, it will get rejected and kicked back to the IRS and they’ll then sent a check in the mail- understand that this could delay our stimulus by 6-8 weeks as of now. Supposedly, SBTPG is claiming they are working with the IRS to try to fix this problem, but they haven’t updated or provided a solution for days. What’s so aggravating is how long it’s taking to sort this all put- the IRS, the banks, SBTPG all knew this was going to happen weeks ago before the stimulus bill passed, they knew this payment was going to happen- they should have been up and running to get money to us all ASAP, not weeks or months from the bills passage

My DDD for the stimulus was 4/15 to an account ending in the last four of my social and i still haven’t gotten anything yet and where’s my payment still says the same thing! Any ideas? Thanks!
Filed with turbo tax and got it on a turbo debit card with refund advance. And I’m unable to update my bank info since its says the 4/15 date and an account number. -

In the rare event that payments are inadvertently sent to TPG, a plan is in place to help identify and expedite the return of these payments to the IRS so that the IRS can reissue payments directly to affected taxpayers as soon as possible. If we are unable to identify the payment as an Economic Impact Payment, the deposit will be processed as a federal refund, with all associated fees withheld from the deposit amount. 🤔🤦🏽♀️

The IRS will issue direct deposits to taxpayers that requested a direct deposit disbursement or applied for a new debit card when they prepared their own return online. An IRS-issued check will be mailed to taxpayers that requested a check printed from their tax professional’s office, Walmart Direct2Cash or a Walmart MoneyCard issued by their tax professional.
If a payment is returned to the IRS (Ex. bank account is closed), the IRS will mail a check to the taxpayer.

Anyone who got an advance on their federal refund had an account set up by a 3rd party, in my case sbtpg. Therefore my deposit scheduled for today got kicked back to the irs and as far as i know I’ll have to wait until God knows when to recieve a paper check. I was originally issued a walmart money card i received my refund on but again only people that got an RAL had their money kicked back and not applied to a walmart card or whatever.

I filed my 2019 taxes with TurboTax as HOH and claimed my 3 children as dependents for the EITC and the ACTC. I had my TT/ SBTPG fees deducted from my refund and the remaining amount was deposited in my PNC checking account on Feb 276th.
I received my $2,700 stimulus check in my PNC account around 11:45 pm EST Tuesday night 3/14/20 so there is hope!

TT cars are issued by Green dot bank, so it is an active account, the Democrats info on my taxes matches the Ed info on the tot app, which I checked when I logged on the app.
-
April 10, 2020 at 8:21 pm #4401531Naiyma
I just received a credit from a purchase, which went back to my TT card, so it can’t be temp and it is reloadable

I paid through my refund and have my stimulus pending in my credit union

@kristine
My 1040 show sbtpgs routing and account number but when I did my taxes through TaxSlayer, I entered in my own routing and account number for my Western Union NetSpend card. Will my stimulus be routed to sbtpgs then to my account?
-
April 10, 2020 at 9:57 am #4400988Cwat
Question: If you used TaxSlayer for your taxes and did direct deposit but the acct and routing number on the tax form is sbtpg, but you used your own NetSpend debit card for receiving your tax refund, not the prepaid card from TT, where will the stimulus payment go to?
-
April 10, 2020 at 12:04 am #4400807Lurkingforthechk
Turbo tax now has a free Stimulus Registration for non-tax filers to give the IRS your up-to-date mailing address and direct deposit banking info….
Soo if they workin 2gether then hopefully we should fine I mean why wouldnt turbo tax card go through if it is a valid acct n routing

If you used SBTBG and had direct deposit you will still get the stimulus via direct deposit. Look at your tax refund paperwork line 21b and it shows your routing number and account number. The IRS has your info. Only people that had the money deposited to cards via SBTBG will be getting a paper check
-
April 9, 2020 at 11:40 am #4400583
The IRS will issue direct deposits to taxpayers that received a direct deposit.
An IRS-issued check will be mailed to taxpayers that received a check printed from their tax professional’s office or a debit card issued through Santa Barbara TPG.
Directly from SBTPG page , if you used a card not issued by SBTPG you will get a direct deposit regardless of having fees taken out !!!!!!!!
-
April 7, 2020 at 6:08 pm #4400185
From my understanding there will be a website where we all can update our direct deposit info for the IRS stimulus. As of now nothing yet.
-
April 7, 2020 at 3:13 pm #4400157Jared
This is all awfully confusing! For those of us that chose the TurboTax Debit Card, using the completely free option, we were assigned a checking account with Green Dot Bank, which has the routing and account number on our Tax Returns. I would safely assume the stimulus deposit would go there as well.

@needsmymoneynow
I read the release and I understand it differently. If your direct deposit is thru a SBTPG debit card then you will get a check. Turbo Tax icard is not used by SBTPG, but the Walmart card is. I could be wrong but that is how I read it.. my TT card is connected to a checking and routing number.
-
April 7, 2020 at 2:41 pm #4400153needmymoniesnow
@momoftwowhatever I’m pretty sure that’s what I posted. On a Prepaid card would be vs a traditional checking or savings account.
That means anyone who got the TT PREPAID card will receive a paper check.

@justwondering2784 I watched it. Someone posted a link to it in a FB group and The lady said “possibly as early as later today”. Not holding My breath though.
-
April 7, 2020 at 2:34 pm #4400151Momof2wifeofone
The paper check from SBTPG is only for people who used the SBTPG cards, issued by SBTPG. Look at the website release.

@ ineedmymoniesnow
Where did you read the press release?
-
April 7, 2020 at 2:29 pm #4400147
@ineedmymoniesnow Wow as early as today? That is hopeful! I’ve only used a bank account but had to pay through SBTPG this year which I’m still waiting for… for people that use a card do they provide account info when using a card?
-
April 7, 2020 at 2:16 pm #4400144ineedmymoniesnow
@jyoung SBTPG just updated their CV19 stimulus page to say that if you had fees and received your money on a card, then you’ll get a paper check. So from what I’m surmising, those of us who got anything on a TT card, prepaid card of any type will be getting a paper check.
There was a press release that the Treasury Portal to update your DD info could be up as early as “later today”. That’s our only hope right now I guess.
-
April 7, 2020 at 1:58 pm #4400141jyoung
@ Dana,
From what read it seems that if you paid fees and then had it DD into checking you’d get a DD? -
April 7, 2020 at 1:48 pm #4400139
The information released today by SBTPG is ambiguous, but makes it appear if the money went through them you have to wait for a check. This is so stupid, seeing as deposits supposedly start tomorrow so we’ll get left out

Conway Twitty,
That would be great news if that is true! -

The IRS has your account information. They record it just in case they make a mistake and need to be able to take the funds back if they realize they made a mistake.
-
April 6, 2020 at 3:05 am #4399853jcn83
I don’t know about other companies, but HR Block has assured me that the info they transmit to the IRS has both their tempt bank account info (for the fee transfer) and my bank account. I’m not sure I buy it but I feel I may be screwed by it.
-
April 5, 2020 at 2:05 pm #4399784needmymoniesnow
@Meme, that’s just on your copy. The copy that was transmitted to the IRS (if you had fees taken out) has SBTPG’S routing number on it. Not the info for your bank or TT card.
-
April 5, 2020 at 10:41 am #4399737Meme
If there is a temporary bank acct and routing number issued for sbtpg, why does the tax return refund section have my banking info listed? Lines 22 b and c. Is this just for my benefit when I download my return or is it what was transmitted to the IRS?
-
April 5, 2020 at 8:06 am #4399730
The portal is available, but the portal is only for people who don’t file taxes. If you’ve filed taxes, the portal is unavailable to you. So watch the sass
-
April 4, 2020 at 8:49 pm #4399665GoFigure
The logical thing to do is enter ur banking info on the IRS site when it becomes available.
-
April 4, 2020 at 5:47 pm #4399651
Well the intuit turbo cards are reloadable.you can even use them to get other money direct deposited. I checked my rounting number on my intuit turbo account and it’s the same on my 1040. Not sure though if they will deposit the stimulus on them cards or not but like I said they are reusable
-
April 4, 2020 at 5:35 pm #4399645
The IRS has said it’s working on a web portal for people to update their direct-deposit information. That will probably be better than expecting the TPG to add an additional step to the process.
-
April 4, 2020 at 4:55 pm #4399638
The only logical thing to do would be for SBTPG to figure out how to reopen those accounts. Turbo Tax and any other tax product that uses them for 3rd party processing will have a bloodbath on their hands otherwise. People aren’t going to be happy waiting for months while their stimulus is in limbo
-
April 4, 2020 at 7:11 am #4399496
Did anyone see turbo tax set up an online portal for people that don’t have direct deposit? What about the people that used turbo tax and got fees take out!?!
-
April 3, 2020 at 8:10 pm #4399412GoFigure
My tax return has my direct deposit information to my bank. however I use TurboTax which is a third-party transaction to take the tax preparation fees out of my return refund. something one agrees to when they are filing their taxes through TurboTax if they will read the disclosure.
-
April 3, 2020 at 12:47 pm #4399322rhood711
Why would SBTPG help us for free. Hopefully IRS will make bank update site
-
April 3, 2020 at 9:25 am #4399254
Last I heard, The gov. was working on a secure site where you can log in and give them your information so they can direct deposit your money!
-
April 3, 2020 at 8:40 am #4399240jyoung
So frustrating! Considering our bank account info is on our copy of our tax returns. Maybe SBTPG will forward our info over? 😩
