So IRS sent my deposit to the bank I used for my 2018 taxes but that account is closed.

There was no way to update prior and there’s no way to change it now. Bank said they bounced the money back to IRS.. so I guess I’m waiting for that “letter” to see what my next move is … sigh….

            It’s the dumbest thing ever.

The bank said I could reopen the account to get the payment but I’m not sure I really want to do that. It was an awful bank.

My stimulus was also sent to a bank account from my 2018 tax return that was closed. (2019 has been sitting on “still processing” since 2/4/2020 and transcripts are all N/A). The payment was sent on 4/15/2020.

Just checked get my payment this morning and it says they will be depositing the stimulus money to the wrong account AGAIN on the 24th of April.

If any bank sends the payment back, the IRS will be sending a check to you from my understanding. There’s no way to update your information unless you never provided a bank account. The irs sends it to the bank on your taxes and it cannot be altered since that was what was provided on the taxes unless you amend it.

I am so sorry! Maybe there’s a chance the IRS can still let you provide bank info once it bounces back to them. Praying on it!
