This may sound far-fetched and a little crazy but Hear me out. We The People. The get my payment portal has too many flaws. I’ve only noted a few people who have claimed to have actually entered their dd info and actually received deposits into their checking accounts. I now believe the IRS knew before hand that tax preparers would develop issues for clients that used the prepaid cards for their refunds. They didn’t have our bank info on file so they wanted a way to get it. We were always supposed to get checks in the long run. They had everyone else’s DD on the tax papers that didn’t use the prepaid cards. They wanted our info too! So everyone who pays taxes could be billed appropriately in the future. I knew I shouldn’t have even uploaded my info. I was kind of desperate since no unemployment and my savings is going lower since I don’t want to get behind on rent and bills because I won’t have hundreds to thousands of dollars to make up for them when the pandemic ends. I can’t get food stamps so I’m forced to go home to my parents almost every night for dinner since I don’t have money to blow on food right now and I’m too embarrassed to ask them for some money then be lectured about what I’ve wasted money on instead of putting it away. So I entered my info into the portal, thinking I pay my taxes if Uncle Sam is giving back, I’m entitled to whatever penny is due since I do need it right now. Every online report said to receive your stimulus quickly it’ll have to be direct deposit. I should’ve just waited for the check in the mail. Now the IRS has my bank info to freeze and withdraw from if I ever owe in the future. I think this whole track your stimulus check was just a scam to track people who owe them money and will owe them money since the 2 trillion will be repaid one way or another. I’m closing my bank account as soon as I get the notice of what’s really going on with this stimulus payment. Beware working people, nothing is ever free, close your bank accounts and open new ones when all this mess is done with.

I’ll be 21 in June but I’ve been paying taxes since I was 16 when I started working. Maybe you’re right and I am a bit slow when it comes to finances since the IRS knows everything when it comes to your money but they really just look me up if I owe and freeze my bank account if I don’t pay but when they’re giving so called free money away they can’t be bothered with my account??? Something is very wrong here…

You can’t be serious! You must be relatively young and don’t quite know how things work.

The IRS doesn’t NEED to know your direct deposit information to collect money from you. They’re the most powerful collection agency in the world. If they determine that you owe them, there’s no escape — not even by continually changing banking accounts.

If taxpayers OWE, the IRS compels them to pay but DOESN’T just go deduct the money from their accounts. The DD info is for the filers’ convenience for REFUNDS.

Furthermore, the economic impact payments are credits, not loans. They’re not taxable income, and we will not have to pay them back.
