      Used turbo tax with fees to be taken out

      I claimed my baby on my 2020 taxes where as 2019 her dad claimed her. We are no longer together and I took care of her all of 2020 with little to no child support. If he gets stimulus he will never give it to me even if it’s the right thing to do since I take care of her all by myself. I am so frustrated!!! So my questions are even if 2020 is still processing will they still use 2020 taxes to send the stimulus or 2019? If they do go by 2020 will there be another sbtpg debacle where the stimulus will go to turbo tax first if we had fees taken out? Third is there anyway I can prevent money being deposited in wrong or closed accounts? Before the stimulus hits

          I’m sure they’ll have something down the road to be able to claim the $1,400 you missed out on. Sorry your ex is a piece of trash. Sister had to deal with that but she went to court for the child support. That’s the smartest thing she did. Then if he doesn’t pay he has a problem.

            @Netherdragon

            Has your tax return already been processed?

              I have a credit union and the stimulus is already pending in my account

                I guess I will at least know if my return is processed or not if I get the stimulus check then it’s process but if my mom gets my stimulus then I will know I am still waiting. Can’t see my transcripts and WMR never updates so me!

                  @deja:

                  Your filing status, AGI, and number of dependents will be taken from either your 2019 or 2020 return. If your 2020 return is already filed and processed when the IRS is ready to send your payment, your stimulus check will be based on information from your 2020 return. If your 2020 return isn’t filed and processed at that point, the IRS will use your 2019 return. If your 2020 return is filed and/or processed after the IRS sends you a stimulus check, but before July 15, 2021 (or September 1 if the April 15 filing deadline is pushed back), the IRS will send you a second payment for the difference between what your payment should have been if based on your 2020 return and the payment actually sent based on your 2019 return.

                    I am in the same boat. Ex claimed my kids in 2019, got both stimulus checks and I never sae a dime. Hell, he’s not paying child support either and I had the kids all of 2019 and 2020. So he’s living it up while we struggle to make ends meet. Now I have to wait and see if my 2020 return will be processed before this third stimulus so he doesn’t get to screw us anymore.

                      Same damn boat. I pray they don’t send our stimmys to sbptg first. I have yet to get my refund. Can’t view transcripts but I can order transcripts with new address. Probably will go to closed account and have to mailed or get bounced to one of turbos dummy accounts.

                        Same exact boat as you @Marc. Though I’m loving my new CU, I’m kicking myself for closing my 2019 Chase account. :(

                          Yep, i’m screwed here too. 2019 return has a bank account that no longer exists. It took like a month 1/2 for them to circle around and mail me a check for the 2nd stimulus after they tried and failed sending it to said closed bank account. Unless by some miracle my 2020 return finally “processes” over night tonight i’m expecting about the same or even longer for this check to arrive. Such a clown show going on at the IRS right now.

                            I personally read about this debacle on a local news site, and what they said was what most above answers have stated. If the 2020 taxes are processed, they will go by that for the stimulus, but if they have been submitted and yet to be processed, they will be going by your 2019 taxes. That is so messed up that bc the IRS is behind, so many people are going to have issues with their stimulus. I really hope this works out for you!!! You took care of your baby & deserve the money!!!

                              Seems we are getting screwed all away around this year. It’s BS. And if they go off of 2019 taxes they will over pay me 2800 I claimed fiancee last year. He did own taxes this year already got refund. And my son I claim every other year. However his dad got tax refund back for 2020 so he should also get the credit if they end up over paying what am I suppose to do.

                                If they do not have a 2020 on file, they go off of 2019. I am in the same boat and need them to process my 2020 taxes for the same reason.

                                  I wish I has these answers too because I filed first thing to try to avoid not getting my stimulus for my new baby and for myself like the last too (I was claimed on my mom’s taxes for 2019.)
