STILL being processed vs being processed

I’m making this thread because I see a lot of people not being clear with exactly what the message says. Apparently there’s a pretty being difference between “STILL being processed” and “being processed”

2/16 in the evening everything disappeared and I got the “your return is STILL being processed”. No amount, no file status, nothing on the left except 12/31/2018.

Transcripts for 2018 all say “no return filed” or “N/A”

This is ridiculous.

Anyone in the same boat? Or anyone receive the “STILL being processed” and made it to a DDD?

I updated for the first time since 2/1 from 1 bar to no bars saying it’s still being processed. All my information is still to the left. The tt152 went away but came back overnight. It switched right at midnight which makes it my 21 days so hopefully it’s just that and nothing else.

Hey everyone, I have the “still processing” message on WMR and I’ve been scouring theses forums looking for answers and my advice is don’t do it.

The more rational and logical ones are right still processing means just that. How do I know? Well my WMR still hasn’t updated but my transcripts updated this morning and it says refund issued on the 27th.

Let me shed some light….

So I too received that “still being processed” message on 2/14 and I freaked out but then 2 days later on 2/16,
I was approved and given a DD of 2/22.

I file taxes for my family members (12 in total) each and every year and have been since 1994 (I was just 17 yrs old haha)
Anyway- this year, on 2/14, all of us including myself- (I’m assuming because I prepared and filed all of our taxes on the same day) were updated on WMR from the Path msg to the “still being processed” msg BUT a few days later, only half of us were APPROVED and received a Direct Deposit Date while the other half have remained in “still processing “ even to this day.

What I have learned is that when you get thru all of the stages- the final stage before approval and getting a DDD is this annoying status update to “is still being processed” message. It wasn’t too bad for me because I only had to deal with the message for two days but I can’t say the same for my other family members who ended up getting stuck with it.

I’m almost positive that if not by today, the remaining of my family members who weren’t approved last Sat 2/16- will be updated on 2/23 to “Approved” and finally get their DD’s. I guess their direct deposit date will be 2/27. Well, that’s why I’m hoping for.

Possibly a few days from receiving your date too. Hang in there… your refund is coming 😁

Oh, and I filed through Taxslayer on 1/24, accepted on 1/24, bars disappeared with the being processed message and the tt 152 a bit more than a week ago. Last night, it changed to “still being processed”

I spoke with a rep @ the IRS who stated the “still being processed” vs “being processed” is only indicative of the refund process being longer than the 21-day threshold. The fact that some people have faced difficulty during that stage of the process is only a coincidence, which is proven quite easily when you research anecdotes from people who have had issues and have had one or both statuses on WMR. I was told if there is something wrong, you would likely receive a letter or notification through WMR (a code, further instruction) before you even knew something was up. This is a widespread problem and has no bearing on if there are issues with the return.

I got the “still being processed” 02/16/19 my friend who filed the same day as me 01/30/19 but a few hours earlier got “being processed” but still hasn’t updated anything 48 hours later. his mom who filed 2 days before us 01/27/19 got “we cannot prove any information must wait 24hrs until after return recived e-mail”
My point is do you think the irs could just be having a issue, it was the longest shutdown ever, litteraly right before tax season.
Or am I pretty much still F’ked with this still being on WMR?

im stuck on the “still” message also. but i finally broke down and reached out to a friend. she works at irs and i was hesitant to ask because i dnt like putting people i. my business. she said the “still” message means what it says. still processing. she said that its usually an indicator that you have simply been resequenced to the next batch. which makes sense being the man at irs told me on friday there was a error in my return but they fixed it and as of thursday night it was back to processing. she also said having it or NOT having it doesnt mean you will or wont be held up. she said everything is wierd this yr due to shut down. i hope this helps everyone and please dnt hold me to this, im just relaying the info. i think instead of people posting what they feel they “know” for sure .. keep in consideration everyones tax situations are different and its a 50% chance it means nothing and a 50% chance it does. im there with you all, im stressed because i need it. so i truly hope it all works out. all my stuff is wierd, the offset line a few ago had 2 debts for me, now it has one but my refund is enough to cover both. more than enough . i call the unemployment office and check their info to see my balance and see if its been paid. my balance is in “refund status” whatever that means. and under last payment the recorder say aug of 2017. lol i def didnt pay them anything in august 2017 so everything is wierd right now and ill have to wait till tomorrow when everything is open to be able to find out more details. I was just coming trying to find any hope. My return was accepted 2/2 with no credits of any kind, I simply overpaid and am due a refund of over $5,000. It is now 2/17 and I still only have one bar and it still just says that I should receive my refund within 21 days. I want to scream.

I’m working with a sauce on my meager helping of government pasta, that is comprised mainly of a bunch o’ free Wendy’s catsup packets–not even “ketchup”, fercryinoutloud!–which I’ve then added to hot dog water and zapped in the microwave at my local 7-11. Sorry to hear all of this yet again. The biggest issue is that there is zero accountability with the IRS. If they would be honest and just tell folks what’s wrong, everything could be fixed in a matter of hours. But no, random letters that never come, ID verifications left n right, 45 day hold followed by another, all BS stall tactics. From everything I’ve seen and read, they seem to target the test batch folks first. I was ready to file on the 25th. but pulled back to let the Official opening happen. My went in on the 30th. And approved on the 31st. One bar, then bar & amount disappeared. Saturday I woke to the amount being back The the “being processed”. Message. I’ll update here with any movement. Broadstreet, you can call an advocate and tell them anything really. I’ve never heard of one asking for proof ever. Call and tell them you have tumors dangling off your nuts and you can’t even afford to see a dr. I really don’t see them saying “send us a picture of your ballsack and we will proceed with your claim”.

Hope this isnt another way to trap my refund. I lied to the tax advocate to get the to get me my refund. I feel sorry for all of those who have the processing message. Were you part of the test batch? @ Broad Street, you can only qualify for a TA by having something getting turned off, like your Electric, And will need to show a termination letter or something. The only way we got our money last year was with a TA, but didn’t qualify until October.

Yea I hope so too! But that portal is for a different type verify. There’s 2, one where you have to call, the other where you have to login. Both give you a special code you have to call and give an agent anyway.

They send you a letter in the mail with a special number to call. They ask a series of about 8-10 questions that only you’d know. Then it’s over. But then they request 45 days to review your return, then they send another letter, you call and it’s another 45 days to review your return , last is a 90 day hold. It’s a nightmare man really is.

BroadStreetElite, I just seen your topic here. And yes sir, I can almost assure you 100% there’s an issue with your taxes. More than likely ID VERIFY. My buddy SpookyRides and I both was in hell with this last year. Mine ended the 2nd week in October and his ended in November.

Call them tomorrow. Most definitely call and get a tax advocate immediately if it’s on hold.

I dont know if I ever had PATH or not. I checked the morning after I filed 1/31 said received or accepted…one bar…then didn’t check anymore til 2/12. That’s when my heart fell to my feet lol. It showed the still processing msg with tax topic 152 & no amount on the side, just the tax year.
Still the same today and my online transcripts show all zeros and no record of return filed. This makes me so nervous. I need to see that nothing is wrong. Then I can sleep. Even if it will be deposited late just no audits nor ID verify etc. No issues pleeeeeease!

@James… 100% correct from past experiences. Still being processed means somethings not adding up on their end, so there going to take a second look, being processed means it’s on it’s way. My Still being processed finally got resolved last November, after going thru multiple ID verifications.

I have the is being processed message since Friday after the path act message vanished. No bars this is the first year filing self-employed because I opened my own business so I worry. I am hoping it updates soon with a ddd. I know the shutdown backlogged things so I am hoping it is just running slower than usual because usually I get approved pretty quickly.

My bars disappeared Thursday (2/14) overnight, then went to “is still being processed Friday overnight.
Went to ddd overnight last night

Do NOT listen to these people on the forums, they MIGHT know what they are talking about, but most are just guessing as to what things mean.

The IRS is obviously much more out of synch this year than usual, but there was a govt shutdown so things a a little messed up, but not off by far

From what I have read in last years forum from somebody who called the irs and got an answer.

“Still being processed” means they are having a closer look at it and will be held an extra week but thete was nothing to worry about.

“Being processed” means that your return is completed and awaiting approval and DDD to be given.
