My state was approved I was worried my ex husband claimed my daughter does that mean he didn’t and my federal will be fine?

There’s no way of knowing. The state and the fed are two different entities entirely and even though they ultimately share info, being approved by one is no guarantee of being approved by the other.

If he did file a return and claimed her before you filed your return, your fed return will be rejected. At that point, you would print out the return, sign it and send it to the IRS. That will mean your ex’s return will be scrutinized by the IRS and he will have to prove that he has the right to claim. If he can’t do that, eventually, your return will be approved. It’s a hassle and involves some paperwork as well as time, but there is recourse for you if indeed that’s what happened.
