SSA hasn't received my wages

So I’ve heard that the IRS is not releasing funds until they get the W2″s that the employers have sent to SSA. True of false? My employer sent out my w2s to the SSA the same day I filed with my copy on 1/25. They should have gotten it by now but when I looked it up it still says they don’t have anything for my 2016 earnings… is that why we haven’t updated yet?m with a DDD? Anybody who already got their refund does the SSA online website have your 2016 info?

The SSA doesn’t send the money to the IRS right away. that process could take a few months. All the PATH act did this year was force employers to submit w-2’s to the SSA earlier. That was just so that the IRS could have a copy earlier than before, but it definitely wouldn’t be now.
