Am I wrong to say that if I had NOT filed with TT and had fees taken out of return, that I’d already have my money?!
I’m seeing a plethora of awesome posts about those with NetSpend, Chime, etc. having their money post- and that’s awesome.
I’m just sitting over here with my 846 code wishing I had gone with another company. TT/SBTPG is not the way to go. I’ll remember that next year.

It’s literally just true.
And I’m definitely paying my fees up front next year. The waiting causes me anxiety!

I’d stay and accompany you throughout your mental gymnastics, but your dedication is freaking out this southern Belle.
Goodbye, random internet pedant. 🤯🙏

Seems to me your the one who is bothered because you didn’t get your money early. This isn’t new, if you used TT and paid upfront, you wouldn’t have had to wait depending on who you bank with. Whenever a 3rd party processor is involved, you’re going to wait. You can take what I say however you want, but it’s not going to change that the only one at fault is you. Next time, pay upfront and use a Non-traditional bank and you might see it early.

@tom
I bet you’re fun at parties.
I’m not quite sure what you’re arguing for or against. We do still have choices in this country regarding where we do and do not take our business. This is usually based off previous experiences, advertisements and claims, and word of mouth. Based upon my current experience with the Turbo Tax/SBTPG product, I will not be returning. It’s literally that simple. This bothers you?

I’m just really happy I got a 846. Some people this tax season are going through and audit or if verification. I’m happy I know it’s coming in the next few days, on pay week.

You took what I said out of context. And here is where you’re wrong…. it is technically not your choice when your funds are released. Having early access to funds is entirely up to the banks issuing the refund and the bank receiving it. Chime gave me my payroll dd 3 days early for years, I switched jobs and I no longer get it early because of the bank my company uses who issues the dd and I am a federal employee.

@tom
I do not recall any post that claimed anyone was obligated to do anything. Some banks release early and some do not. However, it IS my personal choice to decide that, as a consumer, I do not agree with this decision. Therefore, I am not obligated to do business with TT or SBTPG ever again.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that SBTPG has it, they don’t work like a bank. I’m going to try my best to explain this.
Since they are taking fees it doesn’t work exactly the same as receiving a deposit early. The whole point of pre-notification is purely to notify the bank money is coming so they can have it on hand and available. It’s not to get you the funds early. -

The sad part after reading all the comments is we know that SBTPG has our funds for 2/23 ddd or no one else would have received their refunds with same ddd. Years of going thru SBTPG and tt and I’ve ALWAYS RECEIVED THE Friday before my ddd . Never on another day :/

@Tom This needs to be pinned…
Let me start by saying this, no bank is obligated to give you access to fund before the DDD. Most traditional banks don’t even do that. Non-traditional banks do but it’s actually a “loan” because they see a transfer coming to your account. Early direct deposit usually only works with recurring deposits like payroll and/or state and federal deposits because they are guaranteed to clear.
SBTPG isn’t actually a bank, they are a 3rd party processor.[/quote]

And I should probably be grateful because if I got it today with my paycheck, it would be more likely that I blow way more than I should. Times are tough for me and my kiddos, so I need to save this little bit of money I’m getting.

Thank you guys for being so helpful. You’re right, its not TT, its the loan and not paying the fees up front. I should’ve read the fine print. I even told myself DONT DO IT. But I did it. HAHA.

If you got the refund advance or paid fees through the refund it ALL goes through SBTPG. They get paid, they release the funds. I haven’t seen them release the funds faster than a day before the DDD though, maybe once it was 2 days in advance, but I’ve never not had my money on the DDD even using a traditional bank.

TT isn’t the issue. I have a ddd of 23rd. I skipped the fees being taken out of my refund and glad I did. Something told me to pay upfront and bypass sbb or whatever that bank is called. And I used tt and chime and got my refund 2pm today.

This is the last year I’ll get a refund advance and the last year I use TT.

You are correct. If you had paid your fees upfront then it would have been sent straight to your account. If you got an advance then it would go to that company and be subject to thier policies (i.e. CK) and if not it would go directly to your personal bank, and be subject to thiers. Most banks apply credit before the actual payment is transferred, but SBTPG waits until the transfer is complete so they can get paid in full for fees before releasing the rest of the return.

Mine says the same as well. I didn’t get the loan but did have my fees taken out of taxes. Says unfunded all day :(
I’m also having put in my checking account so will probably be longer than the 23!

I totally agree. I have NEVER used TT. Always used HR Block and Chime. Get it on the 16th like clockwork. I’m in the same boat. DDD 2/23. SBTG says unfunded. Credit Karma account all 0’s.
