      I didn’t receive EIC or ACTC for my son last year because TurboTax pulled the information from 2017 which stated he only lived with my wife and I for 1 month. He was born Dec 2017 so when I was reviewing the information I thought it said 1 year, but said 1 month, so we didn’t receive EIC or ACTC for him for 2018.

      My question is should I just wait until after we’ve received our DD from 2019 before I send in the Amended return, or is it handled by a completely different department and there’s not any reason to not go on and send that amended return in. It takes 12 weeks they say to receive the paper check, so I’m really struggling to decide whether to wait or go on and send.

      I think everyone walks on eggshells with the IRS and I know as a kid I remember my parents always being ultra cautious, so I suppose that is kind of raised into most of us. My question would be for people who really know, maybe work for the IRS or have had to do this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

          @redacted B

          That was my gut feeling as well….. I just was able to actually file today so I’m not sure when mine will get processed but I usually get my refund between the 22nd and 28th. Last year I was an early filer and it was the latest I’d ever received my return, so I definitely don’t think being early helps. Since I’m EITC and ACTC the 15th is the earliest things will process, I am hoping my return will move along through the process and get batched with being released around that 22nd date, that would be great!

          Thanks again!

            I agree with redacted B, I would wait. It might muck things up a little bit.

              I’d wait it out so there’s nothing there that’ll hold up this years refund then once you get your DD here soon I’d amend the 2018.

              That’s just me though. Good luck to you!!
