Why is everybody here?
I know that everybody needs the money for one reason or another…But why obsess and stress over it?I’m paying off all my credit accounts which will save me a little over $800 per month thereby making this year a litle better.
The way I see it, my situation is ongoing and I’ve become accustomed to it. My return will be a happy windfall and I’d rather not drive myself crazy until it gets here.
I’m juat saying no matter how bad your situation is…It’s probably been that way a while. Don’t be eager to your detriment. Be thankful when it happens and be mindful of what you do with it.
FWIW, my refund consistently comes on the third Thursday of every February since they started this path bs in 2015.

Add:
In most of our cases we have worked, paid taxes to the Fed and State as well as paid into SS, Medicare, medical, retirement, and educational accounts.
This is money WE PAID. It IS our money.
Those of us who get a refund are getting our own money back that we overpaid to the Federal and State government.
If you don’t know that you should probably educate yourself. As far as your political statement – working people who pay taxes are AMERICAN TAXPAYERS. They aren’t taxed according to – of refunded according to their political ideology. This site is UNITED by common interest and it is successful because people treat one another with respect, dignity and civility.

BTW, I’m just here because I saw some loser dems talking about this place on twitter and figured I’d stop in to troll a whole new batch of entitled brats while they complain they haven’t gotten someone else’s money fast enough.
Get a real job losers!

Dan,
Why are you on this site? Maybe try ABCMouse.I’m pretty sure they start at a low enough spelling level for you.Now as for manners and common decency maybe try the local Nursery. As for why I am here I have to pay for 2 teenagers college classes and books. So anywhere I can get a little financial relief.Having 4 teenagers doesn’t have me rolling around in money for fun.
I also check to see if my pay check is in my account as well.
It seems that you are stressing over people “stressing”
And the fact that you consider your return a windfall says a lot.
And you should never become “accustomed” to living life on “credit”.If you want to dish out advice how about you take it.If you can’t afford something don’t get it.
And as for your deadbeat comment……. Most people here works their butts off to provide for their families. Not sure what job you have since I don’t think you could fill out the application.
Something all of us “deadbeats” do.Something that your windfall can’t do. TREAT PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS”
And for the record I call B.S. and think you are a teenage troll trying to get people going.

The word is “serious”.

I’ve used this forum for years. Both prior to and after doing my taxes. There are people that can be very helpful and have knowledge about the system.
I’ve filed taxes for over 40 years, always without any issue. That changed in 2016 when I was audited. The IRS taking a microscope to everything you put in your tax forms is really stressful. They don’t ask simple questions – they give codes that – in less you’re a tax accountant or attorney – can be a bit confusing.
My issue turned out to be an error of claiming one of my kids instead of the other. A simple look at all previous returns should have resolved the issue. There was an X in the wrong box… It took months to resolve the issue – you NEVER want to deal with the IRS for a day let alone months. When you make a mistake and they determine you owe them money – they want it NOW plus interest. If you are due money back – you wait and get no interest…
The people here have helped me out. That’s why I’m here.
The fact that you have determined the motivations of others (they’re broke and tweaking for money like a meth addict tweaks for drugs) is pretty presumptuous on your part. Not to mention hypocritical. I have to question the veracity of your statements as your opinions of others comes across as projection truer to your situation than the story you’ve told.
But that’s JMHO

The best line I see repeated here over and over again is “It’s my money”.
NO IT’S NOT!
It’s out money that the government has decided to give to you.
Tell you what, we’ll quit dangling the carrot and maybe let you eat it afer the 21st.
Watching you freak is just too good right now.

Aww.
Look at all the beggars wishing to be choosers. Why is it called the “earned income credit” when none of you deadbeats earned enough to pay taxes? Why not call it the “Congratulations for Failing Again Handout”?

I’m only here because I checked the wmr and it said direct deposit on 2/13. I still have nothing so I’m a little worried. It is my money after all. Just some searches turned up with this place and sgbt which I’ve never heard of before. I usually end up owing but I must have overpayed this year.

Does it make you somehow feel superior to explain to others how they should or shouldn’t be experiencing anxiety over their finances? Well thank Christ Dan is here to tell us all how to think and feel.

I’m here simply to pass time and be helpful where I can be. I’m like most, we live paycheck to paycheck but we get by ok. Tax refund time is the one time of year my husband and I do something nice for ourselves. It’s our Christmas, birthdays, anniversary, valentines day etc all in one. So it’s fun to look forward to that. It’s also the time of year we can spoil our kids a little more, and plan our summer party to make up for them not getting big fancy birthday parties.
But at one time I was that mom who relied on that tax refund to pay my rent or fix my car and stressed about making ends meet. So what? When your in that position it’s nice to have others that can relate, or give hope. Why are You here Dan?

It doesn’t matter if we are just fine, or hurting financially. Just dont come to a forum where people want to try to get some sort of info on what going on and ask why we are all here. Even if we are financially happy, it’s a place to get updates to know what’s going on. 2ich I’m guessing is what brought you here perfect Mr Dan… Honestly I’m not one to start crap on anything really but when I see someone questioning people for coming to a website then why did you come here yourself? Anyways….

Dan, honey, you do you and don’t worry about what we live like or say or how we budget/spend. Condescenion and haughtiness isn’t necessary and shows nothing except YOUR true colors. A little wisdom from way back: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”.

We aren’t all hurting here. My finances are just fine and I’m here because I’m excited to get my money and store some away, invest a little, buy a couple cool things for my wife kids and myself, and pay for our family vacation. I typically pay off Christmas with it as well but this year we did okay planning and don’t owe much.
We live a VERY modest lifestyle. Neither my wife or myself drink alcohol or smoke. We own our vehicles and keep our bills low. We go out to eat only once every two weeks and we generally view our tax return as 50% be responsible and 50% live it up! IM personally planning on buying quite a few firearms for my collection and the wife will be investing a few grand into her Etsy business.

Ok Mr Dan, we are all apparantly “obsessed” and want to know why we are all here right? So if this is a place to obsess then why are you here if you are not “obsessing”?

Normally I dont worry about when I’m going to get my return but this year I need it to pay for my fiances memorial services. So this site is somewhere i go to get an idea if what others are experiencing and to keep my mind busy!

I have an apartment I put down a large deposit for that I LOVE( it’s a 3 bedroom and I’m in a 1 bedroom with family of 4 and one one the way). I need my return for the first months rent by 3/01 , so thats why I am freaking out. We get paid on the first so I can use that money if it comes to that but I’d rather NOT have to, i want to pay by 25th o we have a few days to move .

I am so happy and grateful now that money comes in increasing quantities from multiple “sources” on a continual basis.
I am at one with a tremendous amount of money
IMMEDIATELY!!!!! -
February 14, 2019 at 8:41 pm #4270324Dan
I get what you’re saying with the “if”. In 2014, I was held for extra review.
By the time I got the return in May, I was broke as could be…But I had managed to pay everything down enough by then that I finally got out of the hole enough to not stay completely broke…Until the next emergency happens anyway. -
February 14, 2019 at 8:36 pm #4270319
Every year I always say that I’m not going to get myself back into this, that I’m not going to stretch myself to the point where I am relying on my refund. And yet, every year, here I am again. I never learn.
For me though, it’s not the “when” that is killing me. It’s the “if.” I’d be fine if they told me it was going to be 3 weeks from now, as long as they said it was guaranteed. You read the horror stories about it refunds being delayed indefinitely, or any other number of unexpected things that arise, government shutdowns, holidays, computer problems, mistype on address, omg the list goes on… so I think I speak for many of us here that we’re all just looking for some reassurance, crying on each other’s shoulders. There is comfort in knowing that we’re not alone.
