Tried to call IRS but of course I can never get through or if I do and someone answers they immediately hang up. I am the custodial parent and have my kids 100% of the time, the non custodial parent hasn’t had an overnight in almost 2 years. Apparently he decided to claim all the children as well this year so my electronic return was rejected for a duplicate SSN#. I know I have to now mail in my return along with my W-2 but I also know at some point both of us will have to provide school records and medical records to confirm who the children reside with. Should I go ahead and send those in now with my return or do I wait until I receive a letter and am asked for them? I don’t want to delay my refund any further than needed but I don’t want to send in stuff before being asked if it will mess up anything. Does anyone have experience with this?
