No EIC or ACTC. File early every year and every year for the past 10 years I get my refund in January or first week of Feb.
I haven’t received a letter.
Bars went missing to this message for over 2 weeks already. Is today officially 21 days from opening day or is it 21 business days? -

I filed and was accepted on 1/23. I lost all bars, but I still have the information on the left side. Called the IRS today and was told if you claimed Dependants nothing will update until Wednesday. Not to freak out, if it doesn’t update then check again Friday. If it doesn’t update over the weekend, then callback on Monday. The rep also stated all the early filers should have already received letters if they were getting one. And rhis year the 21 day rule doesnt apply. RUN AROUND.

@Michele Decker
That’s too funny, because when I talked to a REP on Friday, she had told me that they have been processing all returns as normal and that the only difference is Non-Path act returns go straight through to get a DDD and 846 code and all Path affected get everything except the 846. They get put in a holding pattern.
HOWEVER, if something was wrong (ID verify, Audit, Etc.), we would know about it because even the PATH returns are fully processed up until the point of refund release.
During that “holding pattern”, the IRS starts receiving employer submitted W-2’s, as those are received they get cross referenced with any return that has that EIN. If the wages, tax, etc. all match, they get pushed through to a secondary holding pattern. If they don’t match, they get flagged for correction.
Then starting Monday (today), those in the secondary holding pattern (that have been verified with employer submitted W-2’s), start getting 846 Codes and are pushed for release on Weds.

I filed 1/23 lost bars 2/4 just a processing message without a tax topic. Called this morning and was told I need to verify ID. She said she was sending the letter out while I was on the phone, and I had to wait for it to come and go in to the local IRS, she also gave me the number to call.

Just spoke to rep at IRS, nobody with Path has been completely processed. They just started the processing today and the freeze will be lifted on Wed. Also do not expect refund until 27th.

I filed 1/17 and no credits or anything like that through TaxAct. Bars disappeared a while back and never heard anything, so I called this morning and spoke with a very nice gentleman who told me my refund was being help for ID verification and if I hadn’t received a letter then I would soon to call to verify my identity. Never had this happen before, but he said there was nothing wrong with my return (which is what I was afraid of) and that they randomly pick 1% of returns to do this to. Hope this helps!

I filed on 1/28 and was accepted that same day. My bars disappeared on 2/4. Just have the ‘we are processing your tax return’ standard message with nothing else. I do have my refund amount still present.
Last week I called and spoke with probably 10 IRS reps. I was told anything from I should have gotten a ID verify letter last week (never did), to I got re-sequenced and would see an update this past Saturday (didn’t happen), to just hold on as the IRS was backed up and I would still get my return in 21 days.
At this point I’m pretty sure not even the IRS knows exactly what’s going on lol. I just plan to sit back and wait it out. If I get any info via mail I will update everyone.

The refunds will be released in three batches, 1st on the 13th, 2nd on the 20th, and last on the 27th. Cycle codes 04 = 13th, 05= 20th, and 06 = 27th. As Tom said, it depends on your financial institution after that date when you actually get your money in your account.

Also used taxact
just got off phone with irs she said they were still working on it . She asked me had i ever been a victim of identity theft and i told her no and she asked had i received a letter from them i told her no . I don’t think she really know why it is still processing. She told me to keep checking WMR and if it don’t change to call back by the end of the month. -

I filed with TaxAct and got an email saying it was accepted on 1/23. No credits, nothing unusual. General processing message, never had any bars. Only transcript I can order is the Account, but its blank.
I waited patiently for today (day 21) and called the IRS. He told me their records show that it was accepted on 1/25, not 1/23. I told him I’d call back on Wednesday, and he told me it’s actually Thursday before they can talk to me. What the…?

After being placed on hold for a total of 30 min, I was told that there was an issue when they initially processed my return and I should have my refund within 4 weeks.
Not what I wanted to hear. -

I filed with taxact as well and lost bars shortly after in January. I am now wondering if taxact has something to do with the lost bars. Seems a lot of people that filed with them have similar problems with the bars missing. Hopefully someone that calls updates with what the IRS is saying now. SO frustrating.

Just called and spoke with a rep. At first she said it was ID verify but then put me on hold and had another person look at it with her. She said I am still in the processing stage and to allow 9 weeks for the return from Jan. 26 (when they first looked at it). She said that due to identity theft this year alot of changes were made that are holding returns up due to verification. It may be income verification or eic etc. But the process is different this year. If you have the processing message but no code then you’re just processing and they don’t need anything else from you at that point. If you have a code then you have to call. Also they will not ID verify you this year without the letter.

I was accepted 1-23 at 1030am with TaxAct. No credits, standard single file. Had the “still processing” message the entire time, no tax topic and my info was always on the left side. It updated with 2-15 deposit date on 2-11-17. The refund has been pending in my bank account since 2-11.

I’m glad people with 21 days are calling. There seems to be off with this tax season and even the most basic of filings seem to be in limbo. Someone is defiantly off this year and I don’t think it’s just a path change.
