I was expecting all or some of our refund to be offset for my husband’s student loan debt. When I look at the IRS Wheresmyrefund page it says that my refund was approved and sent yesterday. Does that mean they will NOT be offsetting, or do the offsets happen after the refund has been “sent?” Not sure what to expect.

Can anyone answer this. The TOP line says that my refund was offset and the IRS lady said that DOE put in the offset on my DDD. But WMR doesn’t have any codes and still gives me a DDD with all my information and refund amount. Just checked again and still say it should have been deposited on the 2/27/19. But I don’t have it. I know they are backed up because SBTPG says they won’t send anymore deposits until March 4/2019. So I’m so confused. Am I receiving my refund this year or not. I have to have dental surgery and I need it NOW. Can someone please help?

I was just offset last year taxes…is this random thing by fiscal…or once u have offset and still owe dept…it happens every year?

Do you get offset every year…once u are in the system?

If you receive your money, then no. It will not be offset. If it seems to be taking alot longer than it should, it has most likely been offset. The site said for me that my refund was sent on the 22nd. On the 25th the site said my entire refund was offset. So yes, it can be offset after the site says it’s been sent. Hopefully it won’t be. IRS is extremely glitchy this year.
