Last year my refund was $13,000 – we have many deductions, farm/ranch expenses, and quite a bit withheld from our paychecks. Last tax season, it took 28 days from acceptance to receiving my check in hand.

Here’s my issue – I opted for DD but a check was cut and mailed after my return was frozen for a week. Someone said it being frozen was due to the amount and that the IRS does not DD if the amount is over a certain amount ($10,000??) Does anyone know any truth to this? I had DD in previous years for $11,000 and $12,000 but wasnt sure if this was a new thing or not.

My account numbers have been the same for 10 years and never changed on TT. I confirm it every time I file. Not sure why last year I had to get a check – one rep said it was because it was over $10k but I know that was a lie. Another person from the IRS said it was pulled for review which caused it to be delayed 1 week past the 21 days and thats why they sent a check. No one at the IRS knows whats really going on. Ever.

I usually get over 11K (i don’t do withholding etc plus eitc) and I always received by refund as direct deposit.
So no that is not true.
There could be other reasons they will issue a check like wrong numbers for your account info etc.
