Hotline says I may have an offset. Is it a guarantee that it happens. BTW it’s for unemployment overpayment
What is the offset number? What are the prompts?
Called offset # and I have 1 that “could be offset” for Dept of education. I called them but it’s been sent to a collection agency. So I called the collection agency. They offered a settlement or pay 5$ a month for 9 months to get out of default. Me being different and defiant went for the settlement. Hey they are gonna take my income tax anyway and the amount will cover the settlement amount. I’d rather have them out of my life permanently rather than deal with them for 9 months and still not get any of return. So maybe I’ll have better luck next year. Good luck to you all.
I had an unemployement overpayment offset. My state refund was held but I still owe a little bit more. Will they take it from my federal and if so – will there be an additional delay with my refund? :(
Same here, I got hit with an offset this year for an old unemployment overpayment that I didn’t even know about. It is most certainly guaranteed that they will take whatever it is in full and you will get whatever is left after they get their money.
In most cases, if the hotline lists it, they will take it.. Unless it’s an inactive offset that’s been paid, but not removed. In that case press 1, then2 and ask a live rep.. They’ll be able to tell you for certain
So it’s pretty much a guarantee they take it this year
I have a unemployment offset and they take Every cent you owe them
