Our entire refund was taken from my husband’s past student loans, how ever, I was the one working. It told me to file the IS. I’m in Ohio. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a chance I Wil get it back? Thank you.

It depends on the state laws. This happened to us in TX, and we were able to get half of it back after filing IS.

It will probably come up on a google.

As long as the 2 of you were not married when he incurred the debt, the IS will be granted and a refund will be determined based on your salary. Happened with me a few yrs back with my student loan and my husband ended up getting about half of what was originally determined about 3 months later.

There is a slight chance you could get some back, google some info on it because you have to meet certain criteria and if you do file a request. the same thing happen to us a few years back

It would not let me file married filling separate. I was told to fill out the IS form to request it back as it is not child support.

No. You wont. This happened to me before with my husbands past child support. It was a bummer. Think about filing married separate next time.
