I had a offset of four hundred owed to State, my refund is a thousand, when will I get the remainder? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Also although the hotline says I have one debt which is to State, I called the state earlier today and they said I owed four hundred but the hotline says you have a offset and when it says in the amount of, it says my whole refund, how can that be when I only have one owed to state for four hundread?
Someone please help if you have experience this before.

When you call the offset hotline make sure you check for option 1 which is money owed to the state or federal agencies ( not irs), go back to the previous menu then select option 2 which is for other debt. Whatever you owe will be deducted from your refund and they will issue the rest. Normally once your refund is processed and you have updated on wmr the system will tell you that your refund has been reduced and by how much they will send you the difference however you selected to receive it. If your debt exceeds your refund they will take it all wmr will update with a message saying your refund was offset to pay a debt and they will send you a letter in the mail explaining who they paid the money to.

Did you get your refund on the DDD even though you had a offset? I can’t see transcripts because I can’t get pass the phone verification. My DDD is tomorrow and I have prepaid card but so far nothing and usually with prepaid card they release funds early but because of my offset not sure. I hope they not talking the whole refund as I only have one owed to state

I had 898 last year for state tax owed. There was no time delay in my refund.

I would reference your irs account transcript, look for 898 code
That is the best projection and idea of what ur refund will be (in ur checking, deposit)

                  Let’s say you 846 code says $1200
Then your 898 code says $400. You know u will get deposit of $800
