With so many threads being opened about this elusive “60 day review” bs, I thought I’d share my insight after going nuts and almost having an anxiety attack because of this mess.
I filed with HR Block on 2/3 and was accepted same day.
I claimed EITC
Got a 4464c letter dated 2/14 that told me my info was under review for 60 days to “verify my information”.
I called the IRS multiple times to ask why and it was always the same bs. They put you on a 5-7 min hold and then come back saying “it’s just a review. just wait the 60 days.” Ugh so frustrating!
After finally getting ahold of my transcripts and doing my research, here is what I know.
The top 6 reasons you are under review are:
1) if you are an early filer. (They consider you suspicious if you file early)
2) you need to ID verify. (super quick and simple, but it does take up to 9 weeks to see movement)
3) you claimed a credit. (ie EITC)
4) you did not file last year or you have a bigger refund this year than last.
5) your employer did not send in your tax info on time.
6) your SSA earnings do not match up with your IRS earnings.
Codes on your transcripts will mostly read
570 (you are under review)
571 (review freeze has been lifted)
Your WMR will say “still processing. Tax Topic 152.”
