I have reached out to several of my local news stations to inform them that the IRS is holding hundreds of thousands of tax returns with no information for taxpayers. We are being told to wait and have no idea when we are going to be receiving our refunds. If you are worried about your name or face being on the news you can leave anonymous tips or emails, but something has to be done!!

Be patient guys. There is no law that states that a bank must post your return within 11.9 seconds of receipt.
Look into “Compliance with Regulation CC”.Also keep in mind that your bank isn’t only getting your return. Tens if not hundreds of thousands on top of normal transactions. Lots of room for issues to arise, glitches and errors, all things no one wants.
They also aren’t holding all this money for interest, lol. Think about that for a second.

I reached out to my local congresswoman guys. They are researching it further for me.
You or Anyone’s local Congressmen or women will do squat! And that’s because, they Can’t! The IRS Only answers to the Fed who h basic runs itself. IRS agents and officials are not elected and no one in Congress will aim for them for fear of reprisals. I was told this from two of my state congressmen to my face two years ago when our refund got held for 10 months.

What am I missing?
They just started processing returns on Jan27th for people without PATH and Feb 15th for those with PATH.
We are not even to the 1 month mark that they tell everyone to accept for those without PATH and just past a week for those with PATH.
What about that is newsworthy?

That’s awesome!! This tax year has been wildly inefficient and uninformative. Unacceptable. The IRS and Santa Barbara bank could start by being more transparent. Let us know that you were just flooded and understaffed and you needed more time. Not that we did something wrong on our taxes and now we have to sit and wait for however long with no specific reason or any further information.

@ohiomom2020 I absolutely agree with you! IRS is the agency entrusted with collecting the biggest revenue source of our country – taxes – yet it is among the lowest performing agencies in customer interaction, with archaic technology, and untrained staff (not the employee fault!) Reaching out to the media, to your elected officials is an AWESOME idea! One way to make a change is to raise concern!

It’s definitely a cover up for them not having enough time. We called again yesterday and got a different answer. This time the rep said “your refund WILL be processing for 8 weeks” not “it could take up to 8 weeks”. My husband nicely said back “okay well I guess I’ll just call back tomorrow then. Thank you for your time” To which the rep very rudely snapped back at him “no, SIR! Do not call back. Your return IS being processed for 8 weeks. There’s no reason to call”

& Why would checking on YOUR refund cause any red flags with the IRS?? I highly doubt they have the time to red flag people that are overly checking WMR when they clearly can’t get refunds out within the typical 21 days….

This year has definitely been very bad in terms of getting the right answers and explanations. Filed 1/28/20 and accepted the same day, waited all this time and finally called today. IRS lady pretty much had no 100% clarification on why im “still processing”. I can wait I just want to know WHY.

Exactly I feel like I’ve been patient and now I’m getting irritated I would feel a lot more patient if they were just up front about it and said “our system was overloaded, and we’re understaffed, we need more time.” I’ve called 3 times with 3 different answers they are treating us like idiots.

@Zu
Thanks so much for the info!! I’m glad it’s finally getting out there how we’re being treated every tax year. And btw I filed 1/27 and have been stuck on processing with no bars ever since, to those of who keep preaching patience. They shouldn’t tell people that they will receive their taxes within 21 days of filing, and then make up some bogus 60 day review to give themselves more time. What about our rights? Do we just smile and take it? No!

This is a good idea! Since no one wants to give us answers, we shall seek our own!

Agreed this is nuts. Was told today “a letter has been transcribed but takes 4 weeks to be mailed out” and there are thousands of people going through this it really seems like they are covering for something. It takes 4 weeks to print off a letter and put a stamp on it…so I asked what’s on the letter and she says “code 570 something to do with your credits, no red flags at this time” it’s like WTF been filing the same way for years and state was deposited in my account on the 12th.

Errors may not be in your return, but in the outdated IRS computer technology. You may not be under review. IRS is down 20% in their workforce and they cannot possibly meet the 21-day refund expectation. And instead of them telling you they don’t have enough manpower to process all the returns in timely fashion, they’ll tell you that you are under 60-day review so that you don’t bother with phone calls. And you may or may not see some confusing notices in the mail.

What, if you are claiming credits your 21 days didnt start till February 18th, 15th Saturday, Monday 17th holiday. I would have not call them till after March 10th. Because you call them alot or check the wmr website too many times YOU set yourself up for review, fraud.just making a suggestion. Before people go off with no patience they really need to do there homework on the subject. Have patience let them do their jobs. Good luck everybody.

I have reached out to Fox News, NBC, and my local channel 9 to inform them that the IRS is holding many taxpayers money under a so-called 60 day review. We have been randomly selected for unknown reasons, and given no information and no idea when we are going to receive our refunds. These people have no regard for our situations. Why are we being punished for having children!

This 60 day review thing is a joke! And even those who have been given a direct deposit date are receiving their money late. Unacceptable!!
