So I literally just got off the phone (6:04pm Central) with an IRS agent, Mr. Panyck. I voiced my concerns regarding not being able to see my tax timeline, not being able to get my status on the phone or their WMR, and how I received tax topic 152, ext 362 and reference 9001 with a message reading to wait 21 days from the day I mailed my return to call with any questions I may have regarding my mailed return.
He was very rude and short with me. He said I know people want information on their returns but sorry, we aren’t going to give you any information until at least 21 days have passed. I said so you have access to my information but you won’t give it to me because it hasn’t been 21 days???? Really???? I again told him I did not mail my return, I e filed with TT and this was a concern for me to be receiving that message. He said well that’s probably nothing I don’t know but you have to wait 21 days before we give you any information. I said well, I’m a nurse and today I was talking to a fellow nurse who had filed earlier than me. He cut me off and said yeah okay and she got her refund already right? I said no, what I was going to say was, she waited the 21 days and about the 21st or 22nd day, she received a letter in the mail from you guys saying she needed to verify her identity. She did this and now she’s having to wait another 21 days, maybe more. I said I wanted to save myself that hassle if that’s the issue. Again, he said well you’ll just have to wait 21 days because you know people are trying to get their refund status almost as soon as they file and it’s not that we are trying to be difficult (I believe he meant assholes) but you know we are the IRS and people need to give us time to process their returns so again, we aren’t giving you any information until you’ve waited 21 days and for whatever reason you haven’t received our refund then you can ask. I was like wow!!! Really? He could have easily checked to see if their was an issue but he wouldn’t. It was a power trip of sorts so it seems. All I can say is with all the b.s. With their systems crashing, hardware failure, whatever is truly going on, they could accommodate me/us. I’m so disappointed with this rep and the IRS period. I conceded and I’m done worrying about their f ups they aren’t taking responsibility for.
In an end note, please, everyone, fill out the survey that’s on the IRS website…
