So I literally just got off the phone (6:04pm Central) with an IRS agent, Mr. Panyck. I voiced my concerns regarding not being able to see my tax timeline, not being able to get my status on the phone or their WMR, and how I received tax topic 152, ext 362 and reference 9001 with a message reading to wait 21 days from the day I mailed my return to call with any questions I may have regarding my mailed return.

He was very rude and short with me. He said I know people want information on their returns but sorry, we aren’t going to give you any information until at least 21 days have passed. I said so you have access to my information but you won’t give it to me because it hasn’t been 21 days???? Really???? I again told him I did not mail my return, I e filed with TT and this was a concern for me to be receiving that message. He said well that’s probably nothing I don’t know but you have to wait 21 days before we give you any information. I said well, I’m a nurse and today I was talking to a fellow nurse who had filed earlier than me. He cut me off and said yeah okay and she got her refund already right? I said no, what I was going to say was, she waited the 21 days and about the 21st or 22nd day, she received a letter in the mail from you guys saying she needed to verify her identity. She did this and now she’s having to wait another 21 days, maybe more. I said I wanted to save myself that hassle if that’s the issue. Again, he said well you’ll just have to wait 21 days because you know people are trying to get their refund status almost as soon as they file and it’s not that we are trying to be difficult (I believe he meant assholes) but you know we are the IRS and people need to give us time to process their returns so again, we aren’t giving you any information until you’ve waited 21 days and for whatever reason you haven’t received our refund then you can ask. I was like wow!!! Really? He could have easily checked to see if their was an issue but he wouldn’t. It was a power trip of sorts so it seems. All I can say is with all the b.s. With their systems crashing, hardware failure, whatever is truly going on, they could accommodate me/us. I’m so disappointed with this rep and the IRS period. I conceded and I’m done worrying about their f ups they aren’t taking responsibility for.

In an end note, please, everyone, fill out the survey that’s on the IRS website…

So after reading this post I went to this page via IRS websitehttps://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof-efp/start.do

I went ahead and filled it out, because I remember receiving a pin the previous years. The thing I don’t understand is, is this the same PIN? All I did was put exactly what is on my 2014 transcript and it pulled up my PIN. Does this send me to a different department? I feel like its the same PIN I have always gotten and all I did was basically say yes this is me and it showed me the pin. I filed through Turbo Tax so there would be no reason for me to use the IRS efile system which is what the pin is for. I’m confused.

Still waiting. Hope to see something to.borrow in the bank. I was a cycle 05 last year, 20150405

Yeah.. I would not do the ID verify thing unless you know you need to. I can see it holding things up. For all you know, it will put a flag on your account to needlessly verify your identity.

I have also heard that it will hold things up, I do not know for sure, so do what you wish. Just saying… I would not do it.

I would say to call the IRS and ask if it would hurt or not, but god knows they would tell you that if you did it, a citizen of N. Korea gets their freedom.

Do you know if going ahead and id verifying would put you in that department needlessly? I heard once you are in that dept it takes up to 9 weeks for your refund.

Where do I find this ID Protection/ verify on the IRS website because I don’t see it.

Well, I had one hang up on me only because I questioned the honesty of them actually being able to access my account. Its all good though, I have since sent a email of concern to my elected congressional official explaining my current experience and letting them know exactly how unhelpful the IRS reps have been lately.

Very true @Mula. I guess after an 11 hour day at the hospital, a code blue with a Pt and losing them, he just sort of put the sour cherry on top of my day and I’m exhausted. I certainly hope that if ever he is medically diagnosed with something terrible, and I don’t wish that on anyone, not even this crabby guy, that he isn’t treated the same way by a doctor and told well, I’m on vacation for the next two weeks so you’ll have to wait until my vaca is processed then, I’ll let you know the extent of your diagnosis…

Some people are just plain mean. I get that he’s working for the IRS which in itself would make me go postal and that he probably talked to a lot of disgruntled individuals today but….whatever… I wish you the best of luck along with every individual on this blog with getting your money in a timely manner; the money that you all deserve and have waited for all year long.

If I was you and everyone else.. I would go to the id protection irs gov website I would go ahead and verify your info just in case..

I found out today this was a problem with mine.. I filed 1/26
They said I would of eventually gotten a letter
I was hoping this wouldn’t happen again this year!

If he was that rude you should of asked to speak to someone above him. That’s part of your Taxpayers Bill of Rights. They shouldn’t get away with being rude and nasty like that.
