There was a good question that was asked and touched on the other night in regards to the PATH Message.
Do all Pathers (or most) just automatically get that message, OR, does the message appear once the IRS has actually processed your tax return and your refund is just literally sitting there waiting to be deposited??
I ask, as i obviously don’t know myself, I was always lead to believe that ALL PATHERS returns sit frozen until mid February, then they start processing them.
Sorry to ask such a foolish question, but I got to thinking about that earlier.
Everyone have a blessed day!
PS
No Pathers have gotten their refund yet! Stop letting these fools get to ya, the rules apply to all PATH, not just “some”. -

Ive been PATH every year since they created the act and I’ve never seen the Path message before. Which leads me to believe, once again, its all in a powerball machine and who knows who will get it. Can’t make sense out of nonsense as it seems there’s no logical pattern behind it. Some pathers get it, some pathers dont. Obvi the NON-pathers will never see it

@Texas$,
Yes I remember your ID from last season. I’m trying my best to tone it down a bit, as, if you can’t tell lol. Also, I quit drinking, so I have a short fuse now days and some of these people make it impossible for me to remain calm lol.
But I’m the same sarcastic ass I’ve always been, I’m just trying really hard not to say words that get me put in time out lol. I also promised upper management here that I’d keep it clean(er) than I normally have in the past.
If you get bored and need to relive some of the laughs, I strongly suggest going back to 2017-2019 on the forum here and enjoy, I had a look earlier myself and , even I amaze myself at some of the crazy sh!t I’ve commented over the years while enjoying cold beer and chain smoking myself to death lol.

*Takes a bow* thank you for becoming one of obsessed!
I honestly don’t have a problem with you, it’s a tax forum man, enjoy yourself and have a good time. We’re all here for the same thing. I’m actually trying to help folks this year if I can, yes I’m a sarcastic person, but I mean well.
Taker easy.

@winter since the PATH started when have the transcripts fully updated before the PATH was lifted.
-
February 11, 2020 at 7:03 pm #4346535Texas$
@winter did you not read the 1st words “I THINK” I never said I was correct and neither are you. You can have a ddd and still end up with all that you said it has happened. Baby we’re all here for the same reasons ASSUMPTIONS. And trying to put those ASSUMPTIONS together and come up with facts.

@Target, I only have anxiety about it because of my experience with the IRS. That’s all. That and I did file my own taxes this year, first time ever, so I guess I could’ve made an error due to investments and my retirement accounts. So who knows. Fingers crossed! To be completely honest, I don’t have to high of expectations, probably a review or more. Who knows lol
Best of luck to you all!!!

@redacted, but don’t be discouraged. It is just part of the process. It is neither good nor bad! You are a Pather if claimed either credits pertained to the new act. Code 152, explains all who fall in this category. It is simply a process.

@redacted
@chrissyHey bud lol hows.the coffee going got myself a new maker the other day.
I filed 1/27 and updated to path on 2/1 really hoping I’m in the first batch and the 15th will piss out a ddd
-
February 11, 2020 at 4:55 pm #4346368
Chrissy, lets keep in touch! I’ll update you on my situation, please do the same if ya don’t mind?
-
February 11, 2020 at 4:53 pm #4346367ChrissyRenae
@redacted
I filed and was accepted within a minute on 2/3, stayed on one bar until 2/8 when it moved to the PATH message, and I thought that was super quick, too! I am hoping it does mean that the return is processed and just waiting to be released.
-
February 11, 2020 at 4:23 pm #4346332
Yea, they probably “flagged” me for some other horse sh!t this year or making me ID Verify for the 3rd time or whatever they can dream up! I actually just looked and I filed 2/4 and was accepted in minutes. Then went to Path Message on 2/8.
Guess I’ll wait and see. I’m gonna end up going EXEMPT and then they can figure it out every year. Tired of giving them essentially an interest free loan and then having to beg to get my money back lol.

February 11, 2020 at 4:14 pm #4346322Brenda ortega
I believe once you get the path message your return has been processed they just cannot release the funds to you . I didn’t update to path message until 2/8 even though i was accepted on 1/22 as part of test batching.
-
February 11, 2020 at 4:11 pm #4346318
I filed 2/3 and went to path Message on 2/8, I almost feel like I went to path to “soon” , considering that there’s still many that never has got the message yet.
I’m probably overthinking my own situation, given the last 3 years experience I’ve had with the IRS.
Either way, Let’s all try to make the best of it!!

@Texas$ – Your post doesn’t even make sense. Yes, for the people that didn’t have issues with their return and were on PATH, the next thing they see is a DDD, but the PATH message does not mean you are finished processing as you could get hit with an audit, an ID verify, a missingmarketplace form, etc. It just means you are on PATH. If you are done processing and just waiting for PATH to lift, you can see that on your transcripts.
-
February 11, 2020 at 3:49 pm #4346298Texas$
I think once you receive the PATH message your refund is done processing and waiting to be released. I receive the standard message “Your refund has been sent …….” and days later it goes to the PATH message. Last year on the 15th when the PATH was lifted darn near every PATHER that filed and wasn’t waiting for ID verification, audits, etc received their money the following Wednesday and Friday. The transcripts updated that Friday night with the 846 code.
-
February 11, 2020 at 3:13 pm #4346249Winter
It really depends when you file. If you file early (like Mid-late January) you can get this message once they complete the initial review of your return. If you file in Feb, you may never get this message and your first update after the one bar will go straight to a DD or take action type message (ID verify, 1095A form needed, etc). The only way to know for sure if you are in fact done processing and just waiting for path to lift is to view your transcripts.
-
February 11, 2020 at 3:12 pm #4346248
My experience I get the PATH message when my transcripts are available and complete minus 846. My tax return has been processed since January 25th. Just waiting on my DDD, which I’m sure I’ll see movement Saturday.
-
February 11, 2020 at 3:07 pm #4346241
In my experience I have received the message pretty close to the 15th and a few days later it would update to my DDD. I’m not sure if it actually means your return is finished. This is a good question.
Honestly this is the first year I have empty transcripts with only a as of February 24th on it. I don’t have the PATH message either. So it probably does mean they’re finished, just waiting to release it.
