I’m starting to regret getting an advocate. I have spoken to my advocate one time on 2/15. I was told he would call with weekly updates. After I hadn’t heard from him, I left multiple messages for him on his voicemail. Still nothing. I called the IRS directly and they will give me no info on my return anymore because I have an advocate. I explained that I can not get in touch with the advocate at all for any info and she told me well that’s the chance you take when you get an advocate. Unbelievable! So now I’m completely in the dark. It has been almost 3 weeks since they told me my problem had been fixed and nothing. So for those of you with an advocate, do you hear from yours? Are you able to reach yours? I called the main tax advocate help line and they told me that they couldn’t help me either since I’ve been assigned already. That I need to talk to him. I am getting really frustrated!

Thank you @tsargeano. Trust me I know. This has consumed my life for over a month. I guess the Tax Advocate service is hit or miss depending on who you get. Some people loved theirs and moved fast, others got a TA like we did. I wouldn’t do it again. I did not like that the IRS would no longer speak to me. I ended up completely in the dark. I saw that you sent something in last Friday. Now don’t hold me to it but I was told in one of my many phone calls that once you have a problem, the system will only update for you on a Friday then a DDD will be given on a Saturday. If that is true you missed the first Friday and maybe it got put back in this week and you’ll get a ddd next Sat? I hope so. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. I know how stressful it is. Now to try to get my refund from NYS. They requested w2s even though my husband has had the same job for over 20 years. 😡

Great News! Good for you Sharon! At least someone is getting some results. I will NEVER use a Taxpayer Advocate again. It’s a Complete Waste of Time. I had no idea what a friggin time Vampire this was gonna be. Not to mention the constant worrying and wondering what is going on. I’ll be surprised if I don’t have an ulcer after this is all said and done.

Apparently that guy did not know what he was talking about. I got an additional scare yesterday when I received a letter to verify ID again! Shockingly I woke up to a DDD for 3/15. Still have not heard from TA!

I have left messages everywhere. I was given a TA in Houston, (im in NY) because I was assigned one thru the 877 number. I only called there because I couldn’t get anyone local to return my calls. Now I cannot be reassigned. I thought TA service was supposed to help. Im no better off than I was and may actually be in a worse place. Im at a loss. I have no idea where to go from here. The main IRS guy before he screamed at me, and this guy was rude from the start, said it went to the taxpayer protection unit? And it will take 180 days. I really hope he has no clue what he’s talking about!

So main IRS guy starts to tell me a second return was filed in my name, then sees I have an advocate and then yells and I mean yells that I should have the decency and intelligence not to call this number after I got an advocate. Guy was a jacka$$. Can the ones that answer the phone do anything to your account.

Sharon, that is insane! You should of at least heard from someone within this time. I would keep calling your local TA’s office until you get some info. I live about 60 miles outside Philadelphia so they gave me a TA that works out of their Philly office. Try to find out what your closest TA office is an call them. If you have to stretch the truth a little regarding your hardship then do it, they worse you make situation seem the easier it will be to get in contact with someone. They have no problem lying to you so I would do whatever it takes. I hope you hear something soon, and good luck.

I have still not heard from mine since the initial contact 3 weeks ago. I have left messages with him, his manager, his main office, and I called the main advocate line. Nothing. I am furious right now. I’m on hold with the IRS right now. I know they’re gonna try to tell me they can’t give me info but hopefully I’ll get someone sympathetic. This is ridiculous!!

Has anyone heard anything from their TA lately? This thread hasn’t been updated it a couple days, figured I’d ask. I haven’t heard from my TA since Friday when he had me fax the 8379 signature page to him. I just tried ordering a return transcript for 2016 on IRS.gov and it let me, not sure what that means. Well good luck to you guys!

Thanks LouisianaCajunGirl. I’m in NY, but my advocate is in Houston. It’s getting really annoying that he doesn’t call, his manager is not returning calls. I sat on the phone for an hour with the main helpline people while they tried to get him. They couldn’t get anyone in that office. They said the best they could do was send him a message. That was last week and still nothing. I’m at a loss as to what to do.

Thank you. I just did that again. I left a message with the manager last week too. Still no calls. I left my home number, cell number, and said they could leave a message. This is just ridiculous. Has your TA been helpful at all? I’m not really seeing any help here, plus now I’m in the dark. Can you fire a TA, lol

Try to find your TA manager’s phone # and leave a message on the manager’s voicemail. They’ll get back to you a lot faster and just explain your situation. That’s what I had to do to get my TA on the phone. So whenever I need to speak to my TA and he’s not answering my messages for a day or two I just call his manager and he calls me right back. TA service sucks in my opinion, they are worse then the regular IRS people you speak with. Good Luck!

I just got a call from my advocate today who gave me his office hours, location, and didn’t direct number. Unfortunately after looking at my case, he says there isn’t much he can do since the problem has already been corrected. He says from what he can see, I am just waiting on a date. I verified my Id on the 22nd of February and since then, I was there has been no movement.
