I have this feeling that if everyone stops taking the IRS agents’time with phone calls, they might actually scoot our refunds through to our banks since it’s already out of the tax preparation servicers hands once the WMR tool said IRS accepted it. So, let’s just put the phones down and let these nice people do their jobs before none of us get our refunds on time, huh? Thank you for your patience, fellow taxpayers.

And if we aren’t getting any answers?

The people answering the phones aren’t handling any manual reviews of tax returns. The phone people are hired to do just that, take phone calls; therefore, if you have a question you pick up the phone and call them to find the answer you need.

Don’t tell thousands of people they are under review if they are not…just say we need more time.

The problem for me is not the wait it’s the lack of information when you are put under review…if you are told not to call back until April or May because you are under “random review” and not told why just to wait…that makes no sense and makes people panicked and annoyed. If you are told we need more time to process returns under the PATH act because we are underfunded and understaffed then I’m cool with that.

Then don’t give us a “21 day” spiel if it’s not true. They might as well just tell us “you’ll get it when you get it.”

That might have some validity if the call centers weren’t in completely different locations as the service centers. Take a walk.

I agree. There are millions PATH filers every year and if you think they are going to have everyone processed within 2 weeks of the start date, you’re crazy. Give them the 21 days as of the 18th, then you can flip your lid. (And this is coming from someone who filed in January last year, and didn’t get my money until October)

You must not be under a review. Lol

Maybe ur right the customer service reps are doing it all this year that’s why half of us are under review they all have their IRS manuals out in front of them and lose their spot when we call lol

The CSR’s don’t process returns, they just take phone calls. I know someone who works at a call center for the IRS and it is an awful place to work at. Understaffed, constantly monitored, rude and overzealous supervisors, constantly having to take calls from angry taxpayers. These CSR’s are not valued at all. They are just cogs in a bureaucratic machine.

Yeah, I’m totally supposed to just twiddle my thumbs for 60 days while they do their little “review” and then after I don’t get a second letter, I’m supposed to wait another 60 days to see what’s actually wrong with my return, which I’m willing to bet is nothing. Sure, I totally won’t call to see what’s up with my money.

Whoever just said stop calling the IRS so they can finish our returns… man I’m so sick of people defending the IRS. Obviously the customer service reps do not also do our returns. They don’t work on our returns between calls. Lol. The CSR’s only answer the phones, you wanna know how I know… my mom works for the IRS over 15 years. Lol!!! Wow
