I see people saying that if the refund amount on WMR is blank, it means you’re under review.

      I don’t believe that.

It seems that everyone whose WMR shows the PATH act note shows a blank refund amount as well. I think this is perfectly normal.

So, if you’re absolutely 100% sure your WMR shows:
      1.) the PATH act AND
2.) a refund amount on the left hand side

      … please post here.

      Thanks so much!

I got the PATH notice, and mine showed my refund amount. I have been told that if you get the PATH notice, your return is proved, but I am not sure about it if your refund amount is not on there. Maybe it is just a mistake?

We are talking Millions and Millions of returns here. There is no possible way they could be checking them all, like you said the 23rd of Jan until the 15th of Feb… that is 21 days…virtually IMPOSSIBLE. I have heard that they are randomly selecting people for further review, not because anything is wrong but at random. And those people did not get the Path Act message on WMR and recieved a letter. I truly believe in my heart we are all fine. If we can order our return transcript then we should be complete. The IRS isn’t going to go back twice and re-do our returns. They would have just held it for review the first time around.

@DELLO, no one is under any Extra investigation or scrutiny because of EITC or ACTC. The IRS clearly states that people who try and commit fraud and use EITC or ACTC to gain more money usually file early because they use someone else’s info and want to get a refund back before the real people actually file.

Refunds are held to try and catch early fraud filers.

Everybody who has the PATH act regardless what is said or your hear or see is under review or scrutiny because you have EITC or ACTC and they the IRS is reviewing all of our returns, why do you think that it said check back after the 15th, and the tax season opened on 23 January 2017.

That’s what I thought. I dismissed it the first couple times but after a few people said it, I wondered what was up.

                      Thanks for your input everyone!

I talked to an IRS rep today and she said it is normal to not have your refund amount on WMR with the PATH message. She said nothing to worry about.
