People waiting for stimulus – INFO

At this point most people have gotten their stimulus, but there are a few groups who are still waiting.

This info is for those that filed with an advance or who had to pay fees I’m posting this to try an ease some of the anxiety and to help those that are looking for Info.

99.99999% of your stimulus money was sent with the first batch on 4/13 (I believe that was the date) , but the DD was rejected because it was sent to the same 3rd party account your refund was initially sent to.

From there, people are in 2 groups.

1. The VAST majority of those attempted deposits were immediately rejected and returned to the IRS because the original temp account with the 3rd party was closed.

2. A very small number of people – either due to the recent nature of your refund or for some other reason the temp account was still opened so the funds were NOT immediately returned

For those whose stimulus were immediately returned – a very small number of you may still get a DD 4/22 but the majority will receive a check dated 4/24. Originally the checks were not to be mailed until Friday , but someone higher up stepped in and ordered they be mailed immediately. They started being mailed on Saturday 4/18

If you updated your info on WMP before 4/17 , even if WMP hasn’t updated for you, you should be in this “batch”

The IRS system is set to automatically convert rejected DD to a paper check and to change the system to accept the new DD info you entered would have caused a serious delay which is why they opted to just let the system convert them to paper checks.

For those whose funds were not immediately returned – a small number of you will get a DD or a check directly from the 3rd party bank – but the majority of that small group will be in the next run of checks which has already started to be printed.

I get my I do from a relative who has been with a commercial preparer for over 10 years and gets most of the emails and memos about this because she is in a managerial role.

The DD info you entered WILL be used for the almost certain next stimulus check which she has been told will likely occur the 2nd or 3rd week of may

I don’t want to argue or fight with anyone. I’m still personally waiting for my check. I u at want to calm and reassure those of you that want ACCURATE info who are still waiting as well

The cause of the confusion is simple – the IRS didn’t take into account the complicated path many of our refunds take to ultimately get into our accounts when they leave the IRS. 3RD party preparers and banks set up temp accounts for every refund so to the IRS system, it didn’t recognize the refunds were being sent to republic bank or to your preparer.

And a “fix” would have taken more time than just converting to checks.

At this point the IRS has identified most “issues” and they have a “strike team” resolving issues

By the end of this week their goal is for everyone under 60k to have their stimulus

From what I know, I would say yes unless there is some sort of other weird issue which is unlikely.

My mom did the “non filer” form on 4/15 – no update until Sat for DD of 4/29 or 30 and the money posted Sunday 8PM

So it can happen quick

The “good news” is the feds have the wrinkles ironed out and the next round (if politicians can leave irrelevant shit out of the bill – payments to non citizens, election law, climate change) the process will be smooth for us

The preparers like TT,JH,HR and the Banks have all been told a 2nd stimulus is likely in the middle of May and to ensure any and all.temp accounts are closed so if people don’t havent updated DD info we don’t have the same issue

Everyone else’s DD was rejected almost immediately due to.there not being an open account

From what my SIL tells me those DD have now been reversed and people on that group.will likely see a DD or check by 4/30 – following Wednesday at the latest

You are in a small group – less than 1% of all people eligible for stimulus whose 3rd party account was active instead of cancelled by the bank (republic for example)

Finally got an update checked mailed by May 1st… Super excited at this point. Fingers crossed everyone else gets there’s or some news they can use

No update for me. WMP still says it was sent to the temp account. This is horrible – the information here hangs out hope according to the temp bank website it was rejecting those funds but no update

Irs posted some info about that. It will not go back to that bank they are updating the portal tonight you will receive a date for check by morning

Thank you for the info. I used a 3rd party bank (metabank) and my payment was returned the deposit on the 15th. Now the wmp portal states it will send it again to the 3rd party bank that the payment was already returned. Does this mean I have to keep waiting until wmp updates to say check? I’m checking my mail everyday anyways but just sucks to not know.

When all the rejected DD started coming back, they decided they could get payment out faster by letting the system in place kick in which was to auto convert the rejected DD to paper check

Rather than trying to retool WMP in a way to overright transactions already issued

At the time they didn’t anticipate the issue with 3rd party banks to be on the scale it is.

The WMP was created so people could update outdated info or set up DD if they hadn’t used it in the past. It was NOT created for those of us who had filed with advances and fees.

Like I said, I don’t think they considered the path some of our refunds traveled.

If you had an advance or fees, chances are you will get a paper check.

The only thing I have heard that could slow down your payment would be if you are in a group of people that is VERY SMALL whose temp accounts were still open with a 3rd party bank causing your DD on 4/13 or 4/15 to report as successful.

Yes no problem. it says I’m eligible it just hasn’t released a DD date yet. When you say this batch do you mean this week? And a direct deposit or check? (Even tho I entered my bank info on Wednesday morning.)

@kira unless there is a separate issue with your returns, I would guess you’re in this batch even if your status on WMP hasn’t updated – several people whose WMP hasn’t updated received checks today

That bill will likely be passed days after Congress comes back in May. The banks have already been told to prepare for it as have preparers like HR block, etc

I filed TT with the TT card
On Wednesday I updated my bank info to cashapp
On Saturday I updated to check will be sent in the mail on the 24th
On today I received my check in the mail

So if I originally did my taxes at H&R Block and got my refund on the stimulus card obviously I know that’s not happening so I entered my bank information on Wednesday the 15th. So when approximately would I be getting my direct deposit?

A “next stimulus” check would require another bill by Congress. There is no “almost certain” there especially with nothing pending in Congress at the moment
