My 1st PayStub of the year 1/3/20 for pay period 12/15-12/28/2019 shows a credit of instead of a deduction where the Federal Income Tax line is. I have NEVER seen a credit before. Why would that be?

It’s a payroll error. Withholding can only be listed as a positive number!

All I was told is it’s due to changes in Federal Income Tax. The W-4 forms are completely different. But I still don’t know how to fill it out so they take out money and don’t give me a credit.

All payroll told me is it’s due to changes in Federal Income Tax , and W-4 forms have completely changed as well. I may be calling the IRS .

@Denae1001: You may want to talk to your employer and check. I thought perhaps it could be because of the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” but I’m unsure of how that is going to affect individual pay stubs. Please let us know what you find out.
