I kinda understand what a pather is and I think I technically qualify as one but to my knowledge I never received a pather message in my wmr search. So how would I know if I’m one? My tax topic is 152 I think

Pather here. Would be nice. Yet I am one that always waits until end of Feb. Last yr, federal arrived 21, Feb. State didn’t deposit until 5, March. Filed today, Fed accepted, state still pending. Was the same last yr. In yrs prior state was accepted same time as Fed.
Good luck Fellow Pathers.
Congrats to those whose
wait is over. -

Yeaaaa okay that might be me then hahahahahaha thank u for clarifying also what exactly is earned income… Like self employed? Sorry for the ignorance. If not then I guess I’m not a pather. -

Last I knew ctc doesn’t make you a pather. ACTC and or EIC does. Thinking some are getting CTC confused with additional child tax credit.

not to be rude but tax topic 152 doesn’t mean your getting a direct deposit. click the link and read . If ur return is filed with no errors & efiled choose direct deposit U should get your return in 21 days or less also timeline of path act. its amazing people give their time to help others but it’s not helping if info is wrong & remember everyone situation may seem similar not always the case .Also ✔ out reddit/ IRS & reddit for TT lot of useful people there

@Broke Saltine
Your absolutely correct. I received both credits last year and got my refund before the 15th i was surprised because of the law and that hadn’t happened to me in years. This year i claimed the CTC for my three kids and received and updated DDD of 2/2, I have chime and received my refund today 12pm. So yes. It does happen. -

Not to be rude but people I know everyone is nervous because of horror stories of tax season and the unknown especially since start of pandemic even if nothing happened to your return personally. My best advice easier said then done DON’T FREAK OUT UNLESS YOUR TRANSCRIPT CODE OR LETTER WMR TELLS YOU TO. Also to those who are trying to help that is awesome of yall but please do not give advice to someone unless your 100% sure of your answer

TT 152 just means you selected direct deposit, that’s it. Try to pull up last year’s tax return, the whole thing. You’re looking for the EITC area

So why wasn’t I affected last year? I got my taxes back before the 15th I check my bank statement… And year before I got it around 18th

If you claim ACTC and/or EITC you are affected by the PATH law, which means the IRS will not, under any circumstances (no matter what people tell you, because IRS won’t break the law for anyone), issue a refund before 2/15.
The PATH message appears for some and not others. That part means absolutely nothing. Try to check transcripts if you want, but the bottom line is no one under PATH is getting paid until after 2/15

You should get a path message without bars if you filed early and it could take longer than the 21 days because of the new laws. What I was told last year because I have never gotten the path message but I never file that early.

your bars going away and the path message is an indication BUT IT IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE!! ive been filing since 2007 with my 2 kids, and all those lovely credits. Since the path act began ive gotten that message maybe 3 out of the 5 years.. i didnt get it last year or the year before, just the 1 line and then after 2 weeks an approval with a ddd. I always update on saturdays too. This year filed 1/26, accepted same day and as of today no transcript, 1 bar om wmr with tt152

@broke I am a PATHer for sure. I have 2 daughters claim every year. Never once have i received that message as well. This is the first year i have even heard of the term. I normally don’t come onto forms but this year i really can use my income tax. Also normally i don’t file until after Feb so that may be the reason i never seen the message. this year i filed on the 24th accepted on the 24th. one bar still so this year i may get the PAtHer message. I will update if I do

If you are a PATH-er your bars will go away and WMR will say to check back in mid February.
