PATH equals approved for many.
We just have to wait out the time. So for PATH recipients, we are to expect updates on DDD starting next week Feb. 9th if no further information is required by the IRS.
Have a wonderful day and good luck to all.

Hate to break it to you, but just because you have the PATH message does not mean you refund has been approved. That message states to check back after the middle of February for an update. Last year many people on this forum thought the same thing and after the PATH message went away, many found out they were being audited or their refunds where delayed for other reasons. Even self employment income showing on the SSA site does not mean your refund has been approved. PATH act and income on SSA just shows that the IRS has received your claims. Nothing will actually be approved and sent until after the 15th.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone *this year* that previously updated to PATH, but then updated again after for a 1541, etc?
I have seen posts that this has happened in years past, but I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone post about it this year… I soooo want to believe that this is true…

Well, poop. Did my question just end this whole thread or somehting?
-
February 10, 2019 at 11:33 am #4264434
Ooooo!! Scratch the question anyway–my 2018 earnings ARE showing up on the SSA website now! Yippeeeeee!

I filed via TaxSlayer on 1/22, was accepted on 1/25 (one bar), then like many here it changed to the PATH notice only on 2/2 (no bars, only the notice). I was encouraged by that, and then I tried Geisha Doll’s suggestion about the SSA website, but my 2018 earnings were not there yet, and they STILL aren’t there today, Wednesday 2/6.
What could that mean???? -

Thank you @Path

@JustinaCasey
Create an account with SS. Identify that it is you. After completion, it’ll display on your SS home screen.

I see people referencing wages, posted to the SSA site? How do you check that? I have both W2 and Self-Employment. I didn’t have and self-employment earnings because I’m just starting my company. Does that make a difference?
Filed: 1/20
Accepted: 1/22I checked WMR today for the first time because I got the Path Act e-mail from HR Block stating Path Refunds won’t begin being deposited until 2/27, so I figured I’d wait to check until then.

and the reason they put that article out about refunds being on the 27tg is so ppl aren’t blowing up the phones on the 15th asking where they’re refund is. they said the same thing last year. there isn’t a delay path act returns still can’t be released until after the 15th which means the final processing touches. so it’s not pushed back or delayed they’re just giving some wiggle room between 3 bars and it hitting your account. like I said expect some to go thru right away mid Feb and most after the 22nd

27th is s safe bet they could drop the 15th but experience last year was closer to 22nd. I’ve seen others pushed on the 15th and some late into the beginning of March. if you done your the second week of January id say they will be ddd by the 23,Rd. if all goes well

If your return contains either of these credits, you can track its status at the IRS Where’s My Refund site starting on February 23.
-
February 4, 2019 at 3:00 pm #4257456
if your self employed and your income shows up on SSA then that means the IRS sent it and approved it. but if you are W2, then checking SSA doesn’t really matter since your employers send it to them

the it’s and your employer send information to the sea. even if u didn’t file your taxes your w2 income would show up on ssa site. so what you see your income a mouth either it came from irs. or it came to them as a copy of your w2 from your employers. employers have a dead line to get a copy to you. they also have a deadline to get it to the ssa.

I don’t understand tho, doesn’t the actual law state that the IRS can NOT release ANY of those returns until “after” February 15th? Plus I was told by my tax prep guy at H&R Block, that early PATH filers won’t have their refunds until March 4th this year… I didnt wanna believe it, so I did my own “due diligence”(lol) & seen an IRS delay article that said the normal PATH Act Feb 15th date has been pushed forward to Feb 27th for this year (2018/2019) due to a few reasons… the shutdown, budget cuts & IRS workforce cuts (one of the reasons for less IRS audits this year) /plus furloughed employee setbacks during the shutdown causing delays prior to opening day… delays including the roll outs of this year’s TCJA (Tax Cuts & Job’s Act) & the new simplified filing system software updates! Other delays are also likely they said!

@Bernice
I just suggested this because for me and my situation that’s how I know my information will match.and everything will go smoothly… I have no offsets… So now the only thing I have to do is wait because I am a PATHER. Someone told me about it last tax season… When I first checked the site there was the previous year’s income and my refund was not moving but when it changed and I checked wmr the following Saturday (I’m a weekly) my refund was approved. So that strategy helped me and I wasn’t one of these people trying to figure out what this and that meant on a transcript. So if you already have yours updated on the social security site and your income on your taxes is the same amount, and you have no issues your refund should run smoothly.. That’s all that says… It doesn’t guarantee you’ll get your refund quickly.. It just let’s you know everything should be ok if your numbers add up. -

Your employers reported both your income.
You mentioned your boyfriend updated to PATH? Correct? It’s now a waiting game for him until Feb. 9 where progress on DDD will begin to be issued.
As for 1099 Self-Employed, income shown on SSA shows that IRS has approved filing.

February 3, 2019 at 9:28 am #4256603Bernice
I checked mine and my boyfriends SSA account and we both have 2018 income reported. Thing is I haven’t field my taxes still waiting on a W2. My boyfriend has filed been accepted went from one bar to Path. Now I feel like that’s really not telling me anything.

February 3, 2019 at 3:04 am #4256568Renee
Once your tax return status goes from received to the PATH ACT message all that means is that your taxes were being processed the computer recognized you had either EIC or ACTC or education credits. Nothing more.
sorry to be a negative Nancy but yeah…. Alot of ppl last year was updated to path and then was randomly selected for ID verification….but for most it at least says your taxes have been seen by something computer or human….sorry again someone popped my bubble earlier with this news might as well keep sharing

I have been filing with PATH since the beginning…WMR has NEVER updated until AFTER my refund has been deposited. I just checked my transcript and it has a file date of 2/11/19. Since last year my transcript had a file date of 2/19/18 and i received my refund in my account on 2/22, i can assune the same for this year. File date 2/11/19, DDD probably 2/13/19. Be patient, tax refunds and the IRS are nothing new. Hope this reassures some of you. I know in this paycheck to paycheck world we live in, these refunds help to get us caught up! God Bless you all and never forget…Jesus Loves You!

Accepted 1/22
Still showing 1bar and tax topic 152 no path msg yet. Will irs do another update tonight? -
February 2, 2019 at 2:38 pm #4256375PATH
Again, everyone quit worrying, if you updated to PATH, expect a DDD starting Feb. 9.
By the IRS recognizing you as PATH means your file has been addressed. Now you must wait till after Feb 9 to see DDD dates.
If you’re still worried, follow @Geisha doll_43 instructions for more clarification.
Good luck.

-
February 2, 2019 at 1:28 pm #4256346Geisha doll_43
Hi guys… Just a tip… I’m a PATHER… Im still seeing the PATH message but there’s one sure way to know if your taxes are completed… Don’t worry about transcripts. Go to the social security site and create an online account… Ifthey show your income for 2018 that means you’re approved and all we have have to do now is wait for a ddd.. I checked mine like I do every year and true enough it shows my 2018 earnings… Transcripts cause people to get confused because they can’t read the codes. But this is the easiest way to know if your taxes are completed…

February 2, 2019 at 11:28 am #4256249J Edint
Can anyone please assist with this weirdness:
Ive had the PATH message forever (generally the case annually)
BUT
When I access my transcripts, there is an amount for ACTCT and general refund (at the bottom, code 766 being CTC), but I’m missing any amount for EIC. I qualify for it, my long account transcript shows it, it’s just not on the return portion? Is this something that might just update when I do??Many thanks!

February 2, 2019 at 11:21 am #4256241
I updated to PATH this morning. I got lucky and slipped through last year and didn’t get the PATH message even though I had ACTC.
-
February 2, 2019 at 9:00 am #4256131Brandi
I got my PATH notice today and a oddly enough a sense of relief came over me. It’s just a waiting game now, I have a feeling the wait won’t be long.
