Owing Back Taxes Causing Delay! Please Help!

I woke up last Saturday morning to find that the update I was wishing for truly sucked! Iblost my bars and tt and was left with message saying “we received your return and its being processed”. I called , but the rep wouldn’t even take a look.

On Tuesday I decided to call back. This rep explained to me that I owed back taxes from 2013 and this is the hold up. She said it would only cause a 1 week delay and No other issues,no flags or anything else wrong. I figured I would have refund by the 24th.

I’ve had no updates since. I just knew I’d get my ddd with this Saturday update. I decided to call since its been 21 days I was hoping they woild just tell me the date on the phone.

This rep said they haven’t applied money from my refund to cover the rest of the past due debt. My refund amount hasn’t changed and I’m still processing. If on Monday I still don’t have a ddd/ still processing then I can assume they will offset my refund. The rep said they “may” offset it.

I am wondering a few things I hope someone has some ideas….

My ex’s entire refund offset …last week no problem 15 days from start to finish. Why are they taking so long to take funds from my refund?

Is it possible they won’t take money from me? Rep did suggest I look into “innocent spouse”. I mean they could easily take the money from my refund ans still put the remaining amount of my refund on hold if they wanted.

Any help is appreciated.

May I ask was your offset student loans or what?

Since my offset is Federal taxes I don’t know if calling the treasury would benefit me?

I do wish I could find out when the back taxes were paid besides calling the IRS.

FINALLY !!! Big update in AM but I just called treasury offset line recording and said DDD of 2/24 After a 2 week hold – Bars and Topic went missing 2/6 was accepted 1/19
