Woke up to find that only 1/2 of our expected stimulus amount had been deposited. They went off 2019 taxes – married filing joint with 2 dependents – so should have received $5600. No issues with the first two stimulus payments at all. Get My Payment tool shows a deposit date of today and our bank acct for me, but when we look under my husbands ssn it shows “You are eligible for the payment. Once we have your payment date, we will update this page.” along with the same bank acct.
Found a group on Facebook specifically for this topic & it looks like it’s happening to thousands of others as well, with various filing types. Anyone here have any information as to why this is happening?

Ok checked the IRS tool and it confirmed that there is a second deposit going in to our account on Wednesday 3-24-2021. If you do not see the updated information on the IRS site trying using your spouses SSN the second deposit is under my wife’s info. I hope this update relieves some of the worry and anxiety caused by the SH$T Show that has been caused by the splitting up of some peoples payments.

Cam, what happened originally that you were updating?
-
March 22, 2021 at 1:43 am #4475883Cam
Update: just went to the IRS website and now it says that I’m scheduled for a Payment on March 24 so hopefully it’s my other half of the 4200 I was supero get on the 17th .
-
March 21, 2021 at 8:36 pm #4475825frmurphy
Update: I checked my wife’s SS number and info, and it now says her payment will be direct deposited on 3/24. So after thinking we would only get half, now it has it that another deposit will be made!

We didn’t file our 2020 return yet so they went off 2019 return. My college son was claimed as dependent but his payment was missing. We only received $2800 instead of $4200. I called IRS and the person that I talked to told me that we can claim his portion when we file 2020 return.

I should receive 5600 for a family of 4 and I’m only getting 2,600. We are under the income limits and have received the other past 2 stimulus
What’s going on? Bullshit -
March 19, 2021 at 3:22 pm #4474840emde
Ok. Second half of stimulus is scheduled to Direct Deposit on 3/24. Originally said on IRS tracker that both halves were processed on 3/17, but I guess there was a delay on the second half. Just updated on my bank app this afternoon.

@iceman9mm
Thank you so much! Chase was spot on. Just checked my account and my second half is scheduled for 3/24.
Everyone that didn’t get their 2nd half, hang in there. Yours may be on the way also!

We also only received half of the $7,000. We had no issues whatsoever with the 1st two stimulus payments going directly into our bank account. I called our local U. S. House member, so hopefully some questions we be asked at the federal level.

CHASE
We have deposited all electronic stimulus payments received so far. When we receive the money from the IRS for additional customers on Wednesday, March 24, we’ll deposit it in eligible accounts. Check “Get My Payments” at the IRS site(Opens Overlay) to find out your payment status. See below for helpful tips.
Updated March 18, 2021
So looks like a second batch of payments are due to be deposited on 3-24-2021 hope this means we will receive the missing half of our stimulus money. -

I’m in the same boat. We received half on Saturday. Both mine and my wife’s said that it would be deposited on the 17th and nothing yet. I’m frustrated, disheartened, and desperate for answers

Married filed jointly + one qualified dependent. We also got only half, $2,100 instead of what we were suppose to get $4,200. First and second stimulus we got full amount fine. God bless America, I love this country!
I hope we all get the other half!
-
March 18, 2021 at 10:25 pm #4474239Spongebob
We got half as well!!! 1,400 instead of 2,800. I am wondering if debt collectors took the money. My wife’s identity has been stolen and some asshole opened a student loan on her SSN. Now FBI is investigating and loan is not dismissed yet due to Covid. I am worried about this.

Married filing joint, baby in 2020 so 1 dependent. Already claimed 2020 taxes. Was suppose to get 4200 but got 2100.
-
March 18, 2021 at 8:06 pm #4474281Ant2021
We also only received half of our stimulus. My husband called the bank and was told only one deposit came in his name and nothing is being held. On the “check my payment” site my husbands shows deposited and mine says something to the effect of, the date will update at a later time?? We never received the first stimulus and the second stimulus both showed deposited, in actuality one was deposited and one was paid with a paper check.
-
March 18, 2021 at 7:27 pm #4474274hrothgar1
I was concerned it was my bank making the mistake, but after seeing all the other individuals/families having same issue I feel better. I’d like answers though!

Only recieved my half. Filed injured spouse again this year. Only got half of first one due to child support. Second one no problems recieved both and now this and shows his deposit due same date and account. I don’t get it.
-
March 18, 2021 at 6:41 pm #4474257Padow143
Same here. We were supposed to get 7k and only got 3500. No problems with previous stimulus checks. We have filed our 2020 taxes but it’s still processing. For 2019 and 2020, we have made under the AGI. Looking for answers!
-
March 18, 2021 at 5:16 pm #4474207Dave
Only received half of my second stimulus and had to file my 2020 taxes to get the other half. Now according to the irs get payment tool it states qith both our SS numbers that the money was scheduled for deposit on March 17 2021. However we only recieced half of the 3rd stimulus payment yet again. So frustrating.
-
March 18, 2021 at 4:56 pm #4474200Daniel
Married filled joint with one dependent only received half. We supposed to get $4200 but we only received $2100!!! We’ve already filed our 2020 taxes and gotten our return. No issue with the first two stimulus payment amounts.
-

Feel some relief to know we are not alone! Only received half with no answers!

Same here, hope someone addresses this so that we have answers. Married filled joint with one dependent only received half
-
March 18, 2021 at 1:25 pm #4474098
I did not get half….I got less than half!! My wife and I have no dependents and our status is unchanged from the former stimulus. We were expecting $1400.00 each ($2800.00) and only got $1200.00 total. $600 each. Has this happened to anyone else? I know of at least one other couple. Please let me know if this has happened to you.
-
March 18, 2021 at 1:09 pm #4474088Arianna
My family of 5 qualified for $7000 but instead got $3500. I called our bank and there are no holds. I got through to the IRS who said they were having issues with depositing full amounts and to keep checking the payment tool. I’ve checked under both my husbands and my SSN and it says the same thing that it’s been deposited. We’ve already filed our 2020 taxes and gotten our return. No issue with the first two stimulus payment amounts.
-
March 18, 2021 at 1:06 pm #4474082MariGotMissed
Filed head of household.
2 dependents.
Was expecting 3rd stimulus of 4200.
Only received 2800.
No way to find out where missing payment is or if I will get it.
Top it off, my federal return is processing forever as well.

March 18, 2021 at 12:51 pm #4474076Missing money
Same thing with our family as well we filed and received our 2020 return before March! Wednesday we saw 2,100 deposited not the full 4,200 for 2 married and 1 dependent. I swear this is bull.
Hopefully they’ll figure it out and get us the rest of our money owed. -
March 18, 2021 at 12:39 pm #4474067Dan K
My wife and I only received half as well. My wife’s status is “still processing.” A friend suggested that maybe the payments are batched by last name. We are married, and file jointly, but my last names starts with a K, and hers with a R. Any chance anyone else is in the same position?
-
March 18, 2021 at 11:40 am #4474021Lex
same here was supposed to get 2,800 only received 1,400, get this – i know multiple people who have received DOUBLE the amount they are supposed to!!!!!! so they got 2,800 instead of only 1,400!! this is INSANITY
-
March 18, 2021 at 11:28 am #4474009Christi
Same here, but what doesnt make sense is why some people got their full amount. My parents got all of their money, yet so many of us only got half. Never had an issue with the other 2 stimulus checks, they always came in 2 separate deposits but on the same day. Checked the status of my checks and for my husband and I both and it says it was scheduled for deposit on the 17th. Still have only seen 2100 of the 4200.
-
March 18, 2021 at 10:29 am #4473976frmurphy
Same here. Got only $2100 of $4200. When I go to irs.gov and use the tool, it says mine has processed. My wife’s says it will update once payment is made! Glad to see I am not alone in this! Tried calling the IRS and you just get a message about not accepting calls at this time! How convenient!
-
March 18, 2021 at 8:40 am #4473888LA2021
So in short, it looks as if you get one check for you and one check for your spouse. I’m a bit relieved. I hope this helps. I’ll update once I receive both.
-
March 18, 2021 at 8:40 am #4473887LA2021
Hello All, so the same thing happened to me. Married, Filed Jointly, supposed to get 7000 got 3500. So after reading your posts, I went back out to The IRS.Gov site and used the Get my Payment tool. This time, I looked up my Husband’s info (yesterday I did mine and it said the payment was processed). I received this message:
Payment Status: You are eligible for the payment. Once we have your payment date, we will update this page. -
March 18, 2021 at 8:27 am #4473872Sara
We only got half of ours deposited too, but at least we got SOMETHING. Never got our first stimulus. Our second stimulus was 2 different deposits of $1500 each, so maybe they are sending them half at a time. That’s a lot of money to just blindly dump in to people’s bank accounts.
-
March 18, 2021 at 8:06 am #4473861RC
Exact snae boat. Wofe and I, with one dependant got 2100, should have been 4200. Went to thebIRS site and used the Get My Refund tool and both our accounts show as being processed on 3/17/21. Its frustrating that there isn’t anyone too call about what the hell is going on.
-
March 18, 2021 at 7:44 am #4473845
Same. Filed married-joint with 1 dependent and we got $2100 instead of $4200. Spouse and I both work for a nonprofit so we are *well* below the phaseout threshold. Even called the bank yesterday to see if bank was holding half for some strange reason (like can happen on a personal check). Nope- IRS only sent the $2100.
-
March 18, 2021 at 7:42 am #4473843Trevor
Same here I was suppose to get $7000 and only $3500 was deposited into my account yesterday! What the heck is going on with this administration? Didn’t have one issue with the last stimulus checks
-
March 18, 2021 at 6:35 am #4473827HoneyHouse
Phew kind of nice and somehow more frustrating seeing more have the same problem! Received 3500 suppose to get 7000. Had zero issues w the first two deposits. Haven’t filed 2020’s yet.
-
March 18, 2021 at 6:28 am #4473822Mark
I also only received half of my stimulus check. Last stimulus payments came all in one check..
-
March 18, 2021 at 3:08 am #4473785CIPREVO
Yes, EXACT same issue here. I’m told we’ll get a letter soon explaining and it’s a big fuck up of course, the other half will come as a check, we’ll see I guess
-
March 18, 2021 at 1:16 am #4473758Kady
In the same boat, received exactly half of our stimulus. Following for answers.
-
March 18, 2021 at 12:47 am #4473751Cam
Same here married with one dependent should of receive 4200 but only got 2100 we got the other 2 stimulus checks with no problem direct deposit . We already file and received our 2020 taxes I wonder if that has something to do with it?
-
March 17, 2021 at 11:54 pm #4473724David
Same scenario as you all. Supposed to get 7k. Got only 3500. Had no issues with payments the stimulus payments previous. Already filed 2020 taxes and no changes. How in the world do they make this mistake?! My guess is their doing this on purpose and are getting people the other half next year. What a joke.
-
March 17, 2021 at 11:31 pm #4473712KaseyH
We only received half for a family of six. We qualify and received both previous stimulus checks each in 2 deposits on the same day.
-
March 17, 2021 at 11:31 pm #4473711emde
Same here. Half of our stimulus amount was DD into our account, under my spouse’s name. My bank cannot see any other payments under my name, even though it states on the IRS website that it was processed as DD for me as well. Last stimulus payment came in as two separate deposits, but within one day they were both pending in our account.
-
March 17, 2021 at 11:27 pm #4473708Joe has half my stimmy
Got half of our 7000 payment expected. No answers anywhere…following

Having same problem here my wife and I only got 1400. We are short by 1400. Tried calling the irs and they just hung up.
-

I MEAN JUST SOMEONE FROM THE IRS EXPLAINING WHAT IS GOING ON WOULD SAVE THEM PHONE CALLS!
-
March 17, 2021 at 9:16 pm #4473640KayDoe
My family received half deposits for every stimulus. One half for my husband and one half for me. His deposit always came first. An hour later, mine came. Though with this third deposit, we have only received my husband’s money so far. Both of ours said they would deposit today but my husband got his last Friday.
2020 taxes not processed
Family of 5
3 dependents
Got full stimulus 1+2 with no issues

I too received only half. Have no idea why.
-
March 17, 2021 at 8:33 pm #4473617Dana
Yes I got half of our 7k . One deposit of 3500 with one spouses name on it. Following..
-
March 17, 2021 at 7:51 pm #4473606William
me and my wife are in the same boat, should of recieved 4200 and instead recieved 2100, called the bank and they were extremely rude in saying its not us, i called the irs an was on hold for an hour and a half and finally talked to a rep and she said they hope to have an answer by mid April, they also said the only possible outcomes would be a 2nd payment with the other half or to claim it next tax season, which really helps us now…
-
March 17, 2021 at 7:43 pm #4473605Maci
Same boat. My husband and I should have received 7,000 but we got $3500. Called the bank and they said they weren’t holding any of it. I’m hoping they split it between 2 deposits, one for my social and one for his.
-
March 17, 2021 at 7:20 pm #4473589Chris
Also only received 3500 instead of the said 7k eligible for. Not sure why. Anyone find anything out on this. Thanks
-
March 17, 2021 at 6:40 pm #4473565Nina
Same for my husband and I we got half of our return we never had a problem we qualified and already filed
-
March 17, 2021 at 6:34 pm #4473559LolaR
I saw someone else post in a separate category that they got half direct deposit and the other half is coming in check form. Maybe they did it that way to give the IRS time to get 2020 taxes processed.
-
March 17, 2021 at 6:33 pm #4473558thisisenough
Same here I received mine but my husband half not gotten…don’t make no sense.
-
March 17, 2021 at 6:33 pm #4473557Can I get my other half
I only got half of my payment I got 2100 and was supposed to be 4200 what the hell is going on here it’s always something with irs smh
-
March 17, 2021 at 6:14 pm #4473548
Same only received $3500 should have been $7000
-
March 17, 2021 at 5:51 pm #4473541windsong
Same thing here. Should have gotten 4200 but only got 2100. Husband, wife, one dependent, below AGI requirements to get full amount. Called the bank and no offsets or garnishments, that was the full amount received from IRS.
-
March 17, 2021 at 5:26 pm #4473533Shannon
Exact same boat. Should have received 7000 and got 3500, the amount doesn’t even make sense, we filed our 2020 taxes already and we more than qualify for full amount. There is nothing we can even do
-
March 17, 2021 at 5:21 pm #4473531Boogny
I’m in the same boat. No problems with other deposits. I’m still processing for my tax return but will that affect it? It shows payment for me but not my spouse? Any info?
-
March 17, 2021 at 4:20 pm #4473498
I’m in the same boat, only got about 2/3rds of the stimulus because of a 2020 baby, even though my tax center shows my amount and information but says “your return is still being processed”. Just hoping they rectify it some how.
-
March 17, 2021 at 4:14 pm #4473494missinghalf
I am having the same problem. Both my husband and I show paid to our account, but it’s exactly half of what we should have gotten. $7000 vs $3500. I know it has to be a mistake, because that’s not even a full amount for three people. It’s 2.5 people.
