So I have been having the ‘Your return is still being processed’ message for a couple weeks now. My 21 days was up so I called and spoke with an IRS rep. She looked into my account and said it was due to an issue with my 2014 return. I had made a keying error and had already entered into a payment plan with the IRS to resolve this. She told me to keep making my payment plan arrangements but that the remainder owed would be taken from this years tax refund. The amount owed is around $1,000 and my refund this year is around $5,500. My question is does anyone know from experience how long this will delay me getting my refund?

they will take your refund to clear the offset and send you the difference.

happens all the time and should not add any significant delay. Your tax account needs to be “0” before they refund you any money due.

even if you are on a payment plan, they’ll take the difference. If you pull your 2014 account transcript you’ll see where your payments are tracked so if you want to know how you are doing paying down the balance, you can find that information there.

          good luck!

If you call the offset hotline and you have a debt that’s going to cause an offset, once your refund has been processed the debt will turn into an offset and it will tell you the amount of the offset and your payment date for your refund. I just checked mine and it said that my payment date is 2/22/17.

Do you also have the ‘Your return is still being processed’ message?

I have the same issue. I called today and was told it could be delayed by a week or so. The rep was very nice and said to still expect it around 2/27.
