In regards to offsets, I call every year and check the automated #. I’ve even spoken to a live person.. By now, most agency’s have submitted your debts to treasury. It’s tax season and they know $ is coming. Although they say ” new debts are added daily”, I wouldn’t be too worried..
The representative I’ve spoken too said for one, agency’s will notify you, per federal law at LEAST 60 days before referring you to Treasury that there is an intent to offset.
You can call every day, and if it says you have no debts you’re fine.. IRS, that’s another story.. They won’t be listed, and will take it..
Default student loans don’t always go in for Treasury offset, but can.. Call dept. Of Ed to be sure, ask a live agent..
I’m sure there’s always a chance you can be offset without being listed but I’ve never had it happen, or personally known anyone it has happened too..
If the top says no debts, 99% you’re safe.. 😀

If the offset line doesn’t list it check the day you get a DDD. I, for example, already know I have an offset from child support but for things like loans it’s pretty much guesswork on if they will or won’t until they already have. Once the IRS has given you a date then you’ll definitely know if they took something and if so, how much. If it still doesn’t show up you should be clear!

I’m in the same boat. I called and it says I have no non tax debt. But my student loans are from like 05
