      If You Are a Weekly the Last Two Digits of the Cycle Code Falls Like This:

      05 is Wednesday.

      If You Are a Daily the Last Two Digits of the Cycle Code Falls Like This:
      01 = Friday

      02 = Monday

      03 = Tuesday

      04 = Wednesday

      05 = Thursday

      Basically, anything outside of Wednesday is daily. However, you will know if you are a weekly if you ONLY update Fridays into Saturdays. I.E., you get updated transcripts on Friday, DDD on Saturday and DD Wednesday (unless you have an awesome card/bank).

      Don’t ask me why. The IRS is nutsy-boo-boo. If you can make heads or tails of this, I have a medal all ready for you. *sighs*

          @Anthony, as Jenn said below, the cycle codes for this tax season are not clear yet. However it does appear that your tax return was processed the first week that tax returns were accepted. The good news is, even if you are affected by the path act, you should see a return possibly as early as next week, that would be if you are in the first processing batch for the path act which begins 2/13. The second batch to be processed will begin on the week starting with 2/20, keeping in mind that 2/20 is a banking holiday. The third batch will be released in the week beginning with 2/27. We don’t know for sure yet but there is a good possibility that those who have already been processed will be in the first or at least the second batch. Good luck!

                @nea the cycle code 20170505 should be the 5th week on the 5th day so going by previous years it would be February 23rd. We just have to wait to see if the cycle codes are still the same this year as they have been in previous years.

                  @Jeni Look to the left and slightly above of the first April 15, 2017 date on your transcript. If you have a cycle code, it will be there. It should start with 2017 and have 4 digits immediately following it, something like this: 20170504. This is the Account transcript you need to look on, not the Return transcript.

                    @Jenn Could be, Jenn. If we thought the last couple of years were messed up, we have another thought coming. The PATH Act is new territory for all of us. It’s all about hoping for the best and preparing for the worst, unfortunately.

                      @Jenn
                      What does Cycle 20170505 mean?

                      Jeni

                        I filed through TurboTax on 01/29/17 and was accepted by the IRS within the hour. I have 2 dependents and EITC and ACTC. I was able to order transcripts on Friday, 02/03/17. When I checked the IRS WMR on Saturday, 02/04/17 my bar had disappeared and was replaced with the PATH message. I received my return transcript in the mail today and unfortunately I am having trouble understanding it.
                        My Cycle Date is 20160405 and then underneath that it has a Received Date of April 15, 2017.
                        Does anybody know what it means and can you explain it to me?
                        Thank you in advance for any help!!

                          i was under the impression it was after the irs starts accepting and processing. So the week of Jan. 23rd would start cycle codes. For example, the one you have of 20170504 would actually be the week of February 20th. And the actual date would be Feb.22nd.
                          Which is how so many with Path act got an 04 in the week section as that is the week of the 13th which would allow the first bath to go out the week of the 15th.

                          Atleast that how it was in previous years. But I do wonder if the first processing week this year is a dead week. And everything isn’t pushed back a week to make up for the path act.

                            Also:
                            The first two weeks of the year are “dead cycles” This means to expect your refund in the week you see in your cycle code for the week. This is the first two digit code after the year. So if you see: 20170504, your refund is estimated to arrive the week beginning with 2/13, which is the fifth week of the cycle (that’s what the“05” represents). Sorry about that.
