      Last year I was offset by DOE for my whole refund, $8,500 and I didn’t know until the last minute but it did state that it would be offset on the offset hotline. This year I am so parinoid that it will be offset. I do have my loans in different as I have a submitted them for a borrowers defense case since I went to ITT tech. I spoke with the IRS in November and they said my taxes weren’t going to be taken as there wasn’t a indecator for that. When I call the offset line it doesn’t say that I have any offsets. Has anyone had it say you don’t have offsets and then it get taken? I want to trust the system and believe it won’t be I’m just parinoid because last year it really messed up a lot of things. Thanks in advance!

          Yes. Mine were taken last year and the whole time the offset line was saying I had no offset. Also I never received the letter from IRS or my lender saying my taxes would be offset even tho I have the same address.
