Normal Yearly Tax Rant

I cant remember if I’ve used the same username over these past few years; however, every year I come on this thread and blow off a little steam.

Year in and year out, nothing changes.I always say “next year I’m going to claim exempt and keep my own money, every check!” (but I never do).

It is just MINDBLOWING to me, how we get 26 paychecks a year (most of us) and the IRS taxes them, without pause, without break, to the EXACT CENT, on time, every time. Ohhh they’re sure to get that money, week in and week out, right on time.

Yet….when its “return season” and you find out that you have OVERPAID the IRS and they OWE YOU, all the sudden its “well it can take 21 days to review and if something is wrong or one number is off by $5, it will take an additional 4-6 weeks to review, and we can dictate how much you get back, based on economic and political decisions you may or may not have been involved in.

Because if you didn’t know, that’s what a refund is. Its an OVERPAYMENT to the IRS. Its not “free money”. Its not them “giving back”. It is you OVERPAYING them what they were supposed to get and now, they owe you….interest free. God forbid you owe them though. If you owe the IRS, the interest starts on DAY ONE, with penalties and fees; however, year in and year out, we overpay them and they “pay us back” without interest, without fees, without penalties, on THEIR schedule.

It’s absolutely sick and heartbreaking to come to this forum, year in and year out, and see a good majority of honest working Americans, biting their nails, hoping, praying, checking every 20 minutes to see if anything moved on their tax return, because I know….we all NEED the money. It goes towards bills, towards purchases, towards whatever you want, its YOUR MONEY.

So here’s to the biggest MOB, money laundering, bunch of crooks, legal organized criminal organization: The IRS *raises glass*
