I just got off the phone with a Tax Advocate who was able to tell me exactly what the issue is with my return. I have two separate problems. The first one is that I left a job in December or 2016 and since I never got a W2 from that company I didn’t include $300-$400 of income.

The other issue is that the system identified an error in my EIC amount. At first Turbo Tax put in a lower amount but then adjusted it up to what I got last year because I live in an area directly impacted by Hurricane Irma. I’m curious how many of the people whose refunds are stuck in limbo also live in an area impacted by a natural disaster and their EIC amount was adjusted.

My income was nearly the same so i filed with my 2017 W-2 instead of using the option to use my 2016 income due to the disaster.

Yes that maybe true. I think this is the same thing for me!

Lili, did your EIC amount adjust to a higher amount because your income went down from the previous year? Mine did, substantially, due to Hurricane Irma. My EIC amount was adjusted under this rule: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/many-hurricane-victims-qualify-for-earned-income-tax-credit-special-method-can-aid-workers-whose-income-dropped

I am wondering if the IRS system is just flagging these returns because the EIC amount is higher than it normally would be.

I filed 2 – 12, it was accepted 2 – 13, and mine has been sitting unchanged ever since. One bar, TT 152, I can still see my amount. Never got a path message, transcripts still say I haven’t filed, and I too am in a disaster area, Harvey. I’m not sure if no movement is good, since some people it meant they got their returns and others meant they are now having to wait longer and be reviewed. Just hoping since my return was done late at night that I got resequenced to a different cycle and just have to wait a little longer 🤞
