NJ Refund? Did anyone get a date yet?

NJ has ludicrously decided to delay the issuing of refunds to “March 1st or later” this year.

Regardless of how I feel about that (which is all negative), March 1st is in 2 days. I have to imagine they have been processing returns all this time, queuing them up to deposit where refunds are due, but I haven’t heard anything, and my return is very straightforward.

Has anyone gotten a date yet from the NJ Refund Status site? I’m really concerned now as I need this money. :/

Spoke with state was I was accepted 2/2 and today they just saying I should receive a letter they need more info after all this time.smh!!

@Cyn R Mine was also accepted on 1/31. Still waiting. I called the customer service line and they told me there is no particular order they follow in processing the returns. I was concerned since i noticed others that filed after 1/31 already have a DDD and mine is a very simple straight forward return. I also asked about the days of the week the system is update and i was told it varies week to week. Somehow i doubt that is accurate.

I filed 1/31 accepted same day per Turbo Tax and I still have no info. It did switch from reviewing your info to processing your refund but that is it. No DDD. I did call last week because I owed some money and the guy said nothing is being held up and they issue refunds in the order they were received starting 3/1. I don’t think any of us would mind the delay IF there was some sort of communication. So infuriating.

I have a question for all those who woke up to a DDD. Did you guys have EIC and/or ACTC?

I called them today to try to see what’s going on and they told me they started approving the first batch yesterday and don’t know when the site updates but that it does update twice a week. She said the phone number that you can call to track your status is more accurate than the website. I tried calling the number and I couldn’t get it to work but I’m going to try again later. Hope we see an update by Saturday morning the latest

We approved your refund in the amount of $X to be deposited into your bank account on 03/07/17. It can take up to five days to show in your bank account. If your refund doesn’t show in your bank account after 5 days, check the bank routing and account number reported on the bottom of your New Jersey state tax return.

If you have more than one bank account, make sure you are looking at the deposit information for the correct account (e.g. savings vs checking.)

If the bank routing and account number reported on your New Jersey state tax return is incorrect, contact the bank to find out what you should do next.

If you signed up for a refund anticipation loan or rapid refund, you should contact the business you had file your New Jersey state return.

If your bank account was closed after you filed your New Jersey state tax return, the bank will return the refund to us. We will send you a paper refund check through the mail, to the address listed on your New Jersey state tax return. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for this process to be completed.

Thanks, I hope so. Last year I got my NJ refund on 2/23 or whatever, too.

Last year there was a flood of deposits on 3/1 although they started refunds earlier (i.e. I got mine on like 2/23), but I remember a lot of people got it on 3/1. It’s important to note the verbiage on the site:

“We will issue 2016 Income Tax refunds on or after March 1, 2017.”

This tells me that there will be a huge release of refunds on Wednesday. The site is not updated for anyone (i.e. I’ve had multiple family members and friends check their statuses, it all says the same thing that the system can’t find it etc).

Likely this delay is budgetary related because Christie is a dickhead.

Yes I’m referring to the print in red on the website . I have mine going to a prepaid card so hopefully I’ll get lucky enough to see it tomorrow. Jersey sucks lol trying to hang on to our money as long as possible. So typical of them

When you say that according to their website they are doing some deposits the same day, you are inferring that from the line that they are going to issue refunds starting 3/1, right?

I hope you are right and that we both get ours on Wednesday. I filed on 1/23, I think. Sigh.

I filed 2/2 and mine says still processing on their website also. I don’t think they are going to post any updates until 3/1 and supposedly they are doing some deposits the same day according to their website so hopefully we are some of the lucky ones with a surprise direct deposit this Wednesday
