Hi, everyone. I’ll try to keep this somewhat short if possible. I am at my wit’s end here.
My fiancé filed and was accepted on 2/3 with EITC. It’s a simple return with 2 W2s and no dependents. About a week ago he lost his bars and got the STILL being processed message with TT 152 and expected amount showing. After numerous calls to the IRS we have come to find out that he is under a 60 day review because of a wage discrepancy. One job has not sent in his W2 to the IRS yet and they said other job reported his income as $7500 when it was about $12k. His SSA account also shows the $7500 amount. His employer sent him his last paycheck of the year and confirmed that they did report his wages correctly (the $12k) and that everything was fine on their end but that they would resubmit it anyway. They also preemptively sent him a signed letter on company letterhead confirming his wages. We have to wait until March 5th to get a tax advocate as they stated he isn’t eligible for one until 4 weeks after the discrepancy was found, which was evidently on 2/4. What can we do to expedite this process? Neither of us have ever had anything like this happen and we are really hurting financially. I am homeless and he is about to be as well, and all of our bills are behind. Is there any additional documentation we should get while waiting on an advocate? Will making an in person appointment for the IRS help? What should he do about the other job that still hasn’t submitted his wages (which by the way was only for a 1 day working interview)? Any and all help is greatly appreciated and thank you if you read this post in full.
