i called yesterday to the FTB and found out my state taxes are being reviewed, will my federal automatically be audited too ?

The chances of being Audited for current tax yr are pretty slim. I wouldn’t worry much! State pulls more returns for a myriad of minute things. From adding an elderly dependent (who may receive SSI/Disability), to moving or withholding errors – i.e mathematical errors. More than half the time it’s nothing serious. Quite often they will fix the error (s), in which your refund will be released. Keep in mind however, if asked for proof/additional information, get it to them A$AP..

Audit and “under review” are not the same! If you are being Audited, you’ll understand the difference soon enough.

No… State and Federal are 2 different entities
My fiancee got audited last year for her State taxes but she got her Federal on time like normally… So I know from experience that your Federal won’t be automatically audited just bcuz your state is auditing you… Hope this helps 🙏

Did they say you needed to verify your identity? If so the same thing happened to me this morning I called and spoke to some which verify everything and approved my refund
